I think Kemper understands that for a lot of us, the new profiling is going to be the deciding factor if players stick with Kemper or not. A lot of players were unhappy with the lack of changes and UI improvements from the MK2 line - felt as if nothing is ever going to change while the competition keeps making improvements, especially in UI and ability to edit the signal chain more.

I think Kemper understands the new profiling is a big deal for a lot of us and they are taking it seriously. I want Kemper to succeed so I'm very much hoping the new profiling is a significant step forward.

Don't know who you are refering to with "us" ? Guitarists, Kemper owner's, etc....?

My decision to stick with Kemper is pretty evident : it's a big YES.

I bought a Stage and a Player for what it was.... And it does it pretty well.

Could i live without profile V2.0 ? Yes, for sure. And i assume a lot of us (kemper's owners) could also do it. I really like the sound i have and how well-thought these devices are (mark II doesn't change this state of affairs).. I want to keep it (them) as long as possible.

I don't know if it will be "a significant step forward" !? This will be an improvement and we will be able to feel and hear the difference but it won't be the only motivation to sell billions of Stages/Racks/Heads and Players or to keep or not customers....

IMO, Kemper should launch a new unit to respond to this need...

Ho, yes, you have to know what your guitar's knobs are for ;):). Just play with them and see (hear should i say) what happens. You should set your rigs with the guitar you gonna use on gigs and/or rehearsals too ;)

    For EQ, first of all, we advice to do settings at a minimum dB value cause the bass/mid/treble perception is not the same following the volume, it's explained here ;

    https://producelikeapro.com/blog/fletcher-munson-curve/

To resume this link (and Fletcher and Munson curves) ; At higher volumes, the lows and highs become more noticeable, while our ears become less sensitive to the midrange.

The process would be to work on rigs you like at home. Playing at a minimum volume to don't have bad surprises or a lot of EQ'ing to do after.

Do your band use QSC for training and gigging ? Even if they are said "Flat", FRFRs don't have the exact same curves so it can change. Do no EQ adjustement on the QSC itself, for gigs, i assume all the band will be plugged into a mix table and the sound will be send to speakers. So set them by default and do your settings on the Stage itself.

At rehearsal, hear if your sound can cut the mix as there's a huge difference between sound at home playing alone and in another place with other instruments/vocals. You probably will have some other settings to do there. The Stage is a wonderfull device to do settings on the fly.

For gigs, normally, you should have a soundguy. Your Stage will be plugged into the mix table and he'll make the final adjustements following the place you do your show....

Maybe some of the factory profiles found in the Kemper mk2 were created using Profiling 2.0?

I don't think so. Kemper doesn't communicate a lot but, IMO, they don't "hide" new profiles in the existing devices.

The day Profile V2.0 will be ready, there will be an announcement, the update will be there and we'll see many new (free and fee) V2.0 profiles made by sellers.

I bought 3 moog pedals and a mission KP-1 for wah in 2019. At that time, moog EP-3 was only 44€, now it's 66€ X/.

Even if i meet no problem and i'm pleased with them, i don't know if i would advice those ones today.... There seems to have better quality/price solutions...

Wheresthedug 's proposal seems to be better today.

I don't advice to buy more than one mission. For Wah it's good but for volume, the length of movement is too short and less precise, IMO ....

Another TC BAM200 user here, I think it's a totally valid/useable solution for gigging (I've used it on some big gigs to provide local monitoring thru a Kone, while I use XLR to send to FOH). Side by side with the Powered Toaster, BAM200 is not QUITE as good, but def close enough. I do find that the EQ settings are VERY sensitive, and you can find some positions on the knobs that give hollow/odd results - however, once you fine-tune settings, it's great.

BAM 200 is not done for giving a Flat response nor done for guitarists at the base but it was quickly a solution cause ; a classe D, 4 ohms accepted for 200 watts and not expensive (plus the powerKabinet didn't exist at that time).

vtgearhead took measurements and gave the settings to have the flattest response (thanks to him ;)), it is here : RE: Poweramp for Kemper and Kabinet.

The reason why i choosed this device with all these datas ;)

However, the more time passes, the more my thesis that the release of the new profiling with Hellix Stadium is probably true, let's hope it is not synchronized with the release of the Helix profiling software, I can point out that at the fair nothing was heard of Kemper while of Helix I could, then the problem of the hardware block that was reported is not very credible since if you go to the fair you bring more than one machine and at worst you play something previously recorded for this makes me hypothesize that this technical failure was wanted in function of Helix.

You are probably right and i even heard that Line 6 was waiting to see what profiling 2.0 will be like before launching Proxy in Helix Stadium, so why Stadium don't have it till day one ?

HO NO, they gonna wait for each other, we will never have Helix Proxy and profiling 2.0 ;(

When the mk2 update was released and immediately after the announcement of the helix stadium for october 20th, i told myself, i'm afraid that the new mk2 update will be released in that period too. my question was, why release such news so early, especially at the same time as the mk2 update? then why did kemper not even play a sound at the fair? as if they didn't want their competitors to hear it, someone could. these are just hypotheses. i would certainly answer them, but in the commercial field this and more is done. it's as if helix had said stop purchasing other machinery because a new machine is coming with more advantage potential and in fact offers more than all them. let's hope that the helix update scheduled for the beginning of 2026 doesn't cause kemper to delay further. obviously this is mine's hypothesis, but the fact that they didn't make the new profiling heard at the fair and that they have a beta version in any case is the delay in the release. the failure to communicate the release forecast entitles me to this kind of hypothesis

Profiling V2.0 is one thing that misses for the moment but hardware V2.0 and some improvements had already been integrated.... Before Stadium announcement.

I think it's better for customers to have the latest hardware version and wait for the update instead of buying a mark I and see mark II release few weeks after :/

If you look closely mark II has already features that mark I doesn't have ;) (fixed FX, longer looper...)

Once more, i think profiling 2.0 is more due to NAM and toneX than Helix Stadium. We know nothing about Helix proxy for the moment.....

Anyway to stay on topic, HELIX STADIUM is coming out soon and we can already see some videos of Helix while nothing is said about the MK2 update, maybe my prediction that the release of the update is linked to the release of Helix was not entirely wrong, what worries me is that there will be another update for the HELIX profiling which will be in December let's hope it doesn't arrive on a similar date...

You can't say there's nothing about markII, the post #6 shows a detailed vid at Guitar Summit.... We know it's better, quicker and simpler to profile. It's gonna come soon, they're in the finalization phase ;)

IMO, they don't care about Helix Stadium release date, it's simply not the same.... Helix is a totally new hardware with new features, there won't be the same hype for it.

This new update is an evolution (maybe a really good one) of a device already very well accomplished.... I assume that Kemper doesn't bet on the fact that customers will surrender Helix Stadium purchase just with new profiles... :/

But yes curious to know what mark II means ;):*

Good question. I didn’t see myself going Line 6 either; I had an XT back in the day then went Vox tonelab then real amps then 12+ years with my Mk1 Kemper. I genuinely believed I’d stay here.

Before automatically pulling the trigger on Mk2, I was really trying to figure out what’s actually new in the Mk2, hardware wise…. The reason I care about this? The mk1 had enough legs in the original design to support years of worthwhile improvements. Although miracles can happen, it is less likely that we’ll see constant improvements over 10-12 years in a box that is the same hardware. Yes, I know I can’t say this / don’t know this….. logically, what I’m saying here makes sense and I’d feel much better if the company said ‘this, this and this are new inside there’. I want to confidently buy something that isn’t the same box I bought 12 years ago because that just doesn’t feel right to me. It’s attractive to some folks. To me it isn’t.

    Thanks,

I understand what you're saying. When we buy something new, some like and want big changes to see a real difference.

As a consummer who has been lobotomized with advertissements since my childhood, i've lost many years thinking new stuffs are better and will make me things i can't with the actual i own. It's a fact but at the end, i don't use them

When i bought my Stage, i had the Helix which can be perceived as a newer unit (color screen, joystick, capacitive switches, rings led colors...). I bought the Stage that seems to be old-fashionned till day one. But how i love it !!! <3 It's thought exactly how i imagine a stage unit ; clear, versatile, simple....

Technology advances rapidly and I doubt any new gear, including MK2, will last a decade like the original did—3-5 years seems more realistic.

Nowdays, modelers/profilers seems to be made to last for years. Customers are ready to pay 3/4 times the price for a device but it has to last.... L6 had HD400/500 before and changed their mind....

Reason why i'm a little disappointed, my Stage mark I is only 5 years old.... It's far from the 12/13 years i see everywhere. I consider Kemper as a long duration perspective (as a Fender Twin or stuff like that)....

I really hope that Mark II is just a face lift and that mark I will be able to do a lot of mark II things in future.... For example, I don't understand why i can't have fixed FXs on my Stage ? :/?( I'm not necessarily interested in profiling mark II (if i can't)....

I think mark II is just a small improvement of an existing product. Who are concerned ? I don't think that a lot of new customers will come overnight...

I don't think all mark I owners will sell them to buy this new one. I see more poeple who wanted to try Kemper and just buy this new one or Kemper owners who wants to expand their park....

I think that modeler/profiler market starts to be saturated too...And i assume a lot of customers can't buy a 1000€/2000€ unit every two years...

I assume the majority of Stadium customers will come from Helix Familly. This product seems really promising but it adds things i don't need at all... And changing familly product, even if it's not difficult, means you gonna lose time to get used to it.

A lot of competitors have launched wonderfull devices but i feel like it didn't take.... I think about Headrush prime for example ; i don't believe that they've canibalized all the market 8o^^ and their device is really close to Helix Stadium imo....

I imagine Kemper could launch a total new product with a lot of glitz, parallel paths, etc... And make evolve as they have known how to do it with success the previous devices...

Sorry, but i assume that everything in this decision is not entirely due to Kemper's communication ?!

What makes you prefer Stadium over Mark II ?

I ask that cause i come from Line 6 Helix LT and i know there are beautiful things in their devices but i prefer Kemper sound by far.

L6 can make sound evolve but i think i won't buy another L6 device.... There's a beautiful screen, a lot of FXs blocks, parallel paths, many I/O and they add many things with Stadium. But i prefer my Stage's philosophy ; a simple chain, a sufficient number of effects, a sound <3, quick access, etc....

At the end, mark II, is not a good news for the moment FOR ME. I've bought a Player, and had to upgrade it to reach my Stage's possibilities and buy a midi pedal to control it (that i have not entirely programmed to respond to my needs yet) and now i see the devices split into two directions between my Stage and my Player.... I know i'll keep my Stage cause i really love it ;)

PS ; Get well soon with your finger !

Hate to say it but that is still too much at the moment, kind of you to look it up Dave.
I see from previous threads the TC Electronic BAM 200 200W Bass Amp Head is only $119.00 brand new. state-of-the-art Class D amp technology. hmmmm????? https://www.guitarcenter.com/TC-Electronic/…500000270588.gc

I've bought a Kone just after its launch and made a Kemper Kab Klone. Got a Stage too and bought the BAM 200 to amplify. During all these years, no problem. I don't use it for gigs anymore but it works every monday in rehearsal.... ;)

What do you own for the moment ?

The lack of communication worked in the past, but there was little competition then - no one else profiled and only the AxeFX was on par with the Kemper. The competitive landscape is pretty different these days, so a different approach may be in order.

I don’t think anyone said they prefer the lack of communication, but plenty of people accept, and even defend, it.

I think they communicate too much or not enough....

They lauched really incredible updates/devices with no communication, the result was ; Waow ! How can they do this ? What a really good surprise.. <3:love:

On the other side, the lasts HALF comunnications were just bad. Tremolo/slicer, Player upgrades ; we know it arrives, but not when and/or don't know the conditions....

    It creates frustration and disappointement....

In the mark II case, they had to announce something as they launched mark II devices. They couldn't tell ; OK, this hardwares are new but there's nothing to expect.... But, on the other hand, we are waiting for profiling mark II, it's an evolution not something we don't have (i mean amp/cab are there) and can't live without. We've already have pretty good and convincing profiles ;)

In fact, i'm not waiting so much about this new profiling ; i don't want to denigrate the hard work it needs and i'm sure it'll be "better" (for whatever it means). My expectations are more for the future and how close will stay mark I / mark II....

That's really the difference between the people that sit at home and obsess about the smallest Null details and the people that are on stage getting wild and bashing it out with a killer sounding amp. At the end of the day your performance, stage presence and the ability to rock the crowd matters more than anything else. An example is there's lots of famous recordings that everybody loves that I think have the worst guitar sounds ever but it doesn't really matter because the songs and the performances were great. Killer guitar tones alone will not make you a superstar.

With this kind of argues, i would have never bought a 1500€ unit and have never reached Kemper family....

I had a Helix LT before and was recorded by a friend of mine during a gig. The sound was just excellent (We were sounded by a professional soundguy for FOH too) !!!

It can do everything i needed and more ; The ergonomic is good, it's versatile, effects are fine, it reacts as fast as Kemper, there are presets and snapshots instead of performances and rigs (the same for me).... A lot of FXs slots (too much for me 8o), many // paths, etc.....

I had the entire Line 6 rig ; Helix LT, Powercab + and Variax so i had the "amp in the room", and could switch from a detune banjo to a Lespaul on a Marshall amp by pressing a switch....

At rehearsals or gigs ; i could have easily lived with it !

But at home, in front of my speaker, there was something missing.... Always trying to improve sound, tweaking, etc... The interaction was not entirely good for me, not an amp stuff....

I agree with you, having a good sound in the mix and make a great show is the more important and have even seen some professionals playing with only boss GT100 (or device like that), in this case, why having a Kemper ?

So yes, for my part, i'm just here because, i'm exigeant (at home ;)), listen in detail, search this interaction and the sound that brings me smile and makes me play for hours...

A friend of mine, had a Helix LT for a while, i took it to make its upgrade when the new speakers' models were launched ; same conclusion ; there's an improvement but it always misses something. I didn't do this observation with my band, all playing with that f*"'# drummer hitting his drums just beside me ;)

    Hello,

Have you solved your problem ?

I have a player and had a similar matter with fixed transpose FX....

I made rigs with acoustics simulators and we play 74/75 in my band, so i made a rig with detune -1 a while ago to correspond to the original song.

This week-end, i tried my rig by chance at home and didn't hear this weird sound (detune + natural guitar strings' sound)... ^^

I played with ON/OFF transpose button (on my smartphone) and transposed at -17, nothing changes !? :/?(

I took a transpose block --> it worked....

My initial rig was made with Mark I version.... I use it on my Kemper Stage (which has no Fixed FX ;);()

Is there something that doesn't work correctly, with smartphone or the conversion mark I --> mark II for this feature ?
