Was just coming back to post this! It's from this thread:
Kemper Steel Guitar Amplifier Profiles : The Steel Guitar Forum
Originally I think this was only available to members of the Paul Franklin Method, but it's posted publicly now. You can also search Kemper on the Steel Guitar Forum and dig around to see what people are using.

Hey there, fellow PSG player here. The BD-PSG profiles are mine, and just a caveat, those were my pretty early attempts at profiling. YMMV.
Contact Michael Britt and ask if he has any pedal steel profiles - he usually sends out a free pack.
M. Britt Profile – Kemper and IR Profiles
My main advice would be to choose your cab first, lock that, and then audition different amps through that cab. The cab is always important to the sound, but super super important to PSG since we're looking for a different frequency response than most guitarists or bassists.
Eminence sells IR packs for the Paul Franklin and Travis Toy signature drivers... that may be a place to start.
Eminence Signature Guitar Series Impulse ResponsesFor years, Eminence has teamed up with veteran guitarists to create guitar speakers as versatile as the artists themselves. Now, impulse responses of these…eminence-digital.comDr. Z sells a pack with the Surgical Steel amp, which some players really like.

What about your own amp or amps? What were you using before the Kemper? Try your hand at profiling!
Don't get too discouraged - the Kemper is really aimed at guitar, not steel, so we are adapting it to our needs. Find a few amps & cabs you like & live with them for a while, then re-evaluate. My profile tastes definitely changed and evolved over time so...happy hunting!

Are the Paul Franklin/Little Walter profiles available commercially?

Hey Todd, I have some profiles I made for steel in the Rig Exchange - look for "PSG."
Also the Eminence website sells IR's of both the Paul Franklin and Travis Toy signature cabs, if that interests you -

https://eminence-digital.com/collections/em…mpulse-responseThe Michael Britt ones are great, and he's a nice guy for sending them!
Have fun, and don't be afraid to try all kinds different amp profiles on steel...sometimes the weirdest choices "on paper" sound great!

That was definitely the feature I missed when I moved from the Eleven Rack to the Kemper, especially the tight integration with Pro Tools. Stoked for the update, and curious about exactly how it will be implemented!
Would love to see -
• Automatic delay compensation when re-amping (this may not even be an issue anymore, as it was with S/PDIF)
• MIDI integration, or at least the ability to use MIDI CC to control parameters over USB without extra cables and a MIDI interface
• The Eleven Rack had a way to "save" the rig being used on a particular track/clip automatically, which meant I never had to save, name, and manage rigs for a project manually. Pretty sweet. Not sure if this is possible with the KPA, though...since the 11R was tied to Pro Tools and made by Avid, I suspect they didn't make that tech available to other companies.

Good ideas! I would like that functionality too, if possible.

In-ears can be useful for isolation if you don't have a great room to profile.
-
Try EQing by ear. Have the other guitarist play a chord, then you play the chord, and try to EQ it to sound more like the other guitarist. Rinse and repeat.
If that doesn't work, a cut around 250 Hz and a boost around 2-3 kHz may help. But you really have to train yourself to hear it rather than using other people's suggested frequencies...there are just too many other factors for that to be really effective. Good luck!

It would be nice if we could create and save our own user tuning presets
Yes please!
-
Try locking the cab section from the profile you like and switching amps. You may get a cool combination!
-
RJ! Good dude. Went to college together. Another tonal expansion mod is the Free-Way Blade switch - very cool!

Sweetened tunings 2022!!
-
Yes, *please* add this feature. For things like setting a tempo in BPM, this would make way more sense than trying to move the dial "just so."
-
Have fun!

It would be excellent if we could program in as many offsets as we want...I play a number of different instruments through the Kemper, including pedal steel, which is a whole "thing" when it comes to tuning. I love my Peterson tuners, but having similar functionality in the Kemper would be so convenient!

Sounds like aliasing, maybe. What's your recording signal path? Are you able to record a dry DI along with any future samples, and can you upload the profiles as well for testing/reamping (if they are not commercial profiles of course)?
