Why did you turn off the CAB in the amp section as well?
because with the CAB still on I felt like the sound was still colored in a way that dampened the sound. I have to admit, I think I should have kept my 4x12

I was ready to return the Kabinet because I mostly play higher gain profiles and they were buzzy and terrible but after watching the BHP video I realized you ARE NOT supposed to turn of the cabinet as well as the monitor cab off... why? Shouldn’t they serve the same function?
Nevermind. Looks like this has been asked and answered.
Hi,
with FRFR "Monitor Cab" portion MUST BE always on, you should test the "Pure Cab" option too, minor EQ tweaks should help a little in this.
And of course, picking GOOD studio Profiles counts a lot.
You should test DI / Merged profiles with Custom IR's.. that can makes a difference too.
Thanks. I found out that my 212 guitar cab was definitely “homogenizing” the profiles. They all sounded similar and now that I’m in FRFR I am able to see the huge difference in quality between many of them.
mill have to go figure out how to do the IR’s
So I finally took the plunge and purchased a Matrix FR212 to replace my Avatar 2x12 w/Creambacks. I had tuned the Profiler to use the guitar cab. Monitor cab was off. I added a Recti shaper to several profiles to try to get more “presence”. I think I added a bit of treble and presence to the main eq as well.
When I first plugged into my Fr212 it sounded horrible. I had to turn monitor cab back on. Then I changed the global eq to take off the treble and presence but it still sounds a bit shrill.
Are there other settings I need to change?
Update for all who care. Sent the amp off to Kemper and they had to replace power amp switching board.
In System settings, is the Power Amp turned on?
Yes. It clicks when I disable and re-enable it, so that’s working.
I had this happen before after I sold my previous PowerHead. The guy who bought it said it wasn’t working and nothing helped until we did a factory reset. That isn’t helping this though.
So I found a great price on a used Kemper PowerHead from Guitar Center (about the price you’d expect an unpowered to go for) and I should have known it would be broken.
It seems to be in good shape except I cannot get sound from the Speaker Output.. I tried everything including reset to factory.
I sent an email to support but what are the chances it would be an under warranty still, right? Probably why the previous owner traded it in.
Has anybody had to replace the power amp out of warranty? Is the price ridiculous?
Getting no output from a Kemper Powerhead. It was working fine and then the next day there was just no output.
1. Verified connecting the speaker cab to the "speaker output" on the back.
2. Verified sound via the headphone output.
3. To avoid any settings that may have been tweaked, reset to factory specs and no change.
Is there ANY setting that would "survive" the Factory Reset and keep the power amp from putting sound through the SPeaker output?
Well, I just tried to buy a new one, but the order didn't "go through" so I am waiting on a credit to my credit card. Once that comes through I will be looking again.
Little update....
After getting sick of the delay, I called the LGS to tell them to just cancel and refund me since the order was not happening. They asked me to wait until the end of day so they could verify the amp wasn't already shipped.
I told them fine and late yesterday afternoon the manager of the shop called to tell me why the delay.....
Apparently there is only ONE GUY in the USA and he was at NAMM, then took a week vacation and so all US orders (direct orders) were delayed. Great planning, Kemper.
They don’t do 15% off Kemper, do they?
To answer the last three messages...
I am now trying to cancel the order so I can find someone who definitely has it in stock.
I did email a kemper, but no answer so far.
I have begun to wond r why they ha ent checked into it....
I considered NAMM, at first, but 5 days of no reaction to an order?
So I decided to buy another Unpowered rack. My first one was a demo that was already in the store, so this is my first time having the dealer order one in for me.
That was a week ago and the dealer is saying they have never heard back from Kemper about the order. Is it normal for an order to just sit there (not acknowledged at all) for over a week?
I’ll be honest. I originally bought a powered toaster and played through a Mesa Thiele cab. Loved it. Everything sounded great.
Then I (for whatever reason) sold that and went back to a tube combo. I then bought a Kemper non-powered rack and tried several PA speakers (Yamaha Dx10, etc) and was really disappointed. I did play it through a 2x12 but it just never sounded as good as I remembered it, so I returned it.
I have now ordered another non-powered one. If it doesn’t sound good through my 1x12, I will find another Mesa Thiele. If that doesn’t work...I may exchange for the powered model.
