Thanks all. Still waiting but perhaps someone can answer a question about the remote...

When you switch between slots on a performance, does it remember which stomps you had enabled when you switch back?

Example: Slot 1 is a clean sound, and stomp 2 is set up to be a chorus effect. I enable the chorus and play a bit. Then I want an overdrive sound that's in slot 2 so I do that. If I go back to slot 1 (using the remote), will the chorus still be on? Or can you run it either way?

We know that KPA are the geniuses of sound processing. So how about a stompbox type effect that does the kind of thing the variax guitar does. Maybe it needs extra processing power so it would take up multiple effects slots. But it would be very cool to have an effect that goes from humbucker -> single coil sound, or to sitar, acoustic etc.

I'd say that kind of processing is impossible but if anyone's going to figure out a way, it's going to be Kemper.

If version 2 comes out, borrow it from a friend and profile it. Instant win

I'm still waiting for mine to come. I think that tone wise, the others are right. If you can't get the sound from the KPA, it isn't really needed.

The future-safe issues for me revolve around:

    1) Durability. Will this thing last forever (or at least for ages)?
    2) Support - will Kemper keep caring about this product?

From everything I've read, the answer is yes in both cases.

Well, given what you're used to hearing, I'm predicting that you're in for a shock.

    I hope so :D

Certainly it's a massive upgrade. But I've had, and played through, more expensive gear in the past which I don't think warranted its price tag as far as tone was concerned (e.g. a number of Ibanez guitars, Fender Twin amp (2001) - not hating them but the cheap brands I mentioned are ridiculous as far as value is concerned). The Laney has costs about 1/5 of the Fender and has a much more useful tone for sitting in a mix in the kind of music I play. I've not owned boutique pedals which I'm sure are better but the Joyo Sweet Baby eats Boss overdrives for dinner.

I will be profiling the gear I have and intend to prove that there is great tone to be had there. We'll see how that goes

Welcome to the Kemper Zone! It's very much worth it!

Loads of profiles to be had but try out the free ones first. The learning curve isn't that steep, but RTFM. <img src="https://www.kemper-amps.com/forum/wcf/images/smilies/wink.png" alt=";)" />

How's Brighton these days? Haven't been back there since having completed my degree at…

I will download the free ones that have a good reputation (a Morgan AC20 profile is apparently good) - though I'll have to register the Kemper first. And I'm obsessed enough that I have already RTFMed 8)

GAK just happens to be the cheapest online at the moment but I do also live near Brighton. It's definitely been on the rise, in terms of cultural importance, especially in the last 15 years as there are a ton of creatives, hipsters, musicians etc. in the area. They've just opened a weird tower/viewing platform and the trains to London are particularly rubbish at the moment.

Random Brighton band plug: Fickle Friends - very smartly crafted 80s-inspired indie pop. They're friends of friends - unlikely to hugely appeal to the typical Kemper user but they work extremely hard and are very tight live.

Hi there! I've bought my power rack + remote but apparently have a 2-3 week wait from the supplier (GAK in Brighton, UK). That was a week ago, so hopefully it's not too far away now.

I play at church each week so will be using it there live but have mostly bought it for recording purposes. Can't wait.

I've chased the modelling dream before - I had a v-amp 2, then a Line 6 Pod X3 Live but have always defaulted back to one amp, and maybe a pedal or two. I typically play dirt cheap bargains of guitars (including Harley Benton) through dirt cheap pedals (including Joyo) and into my quite cheap Laney Cub12 (great amp for the price). Basically, I'm Henning Pauly (EytschPi42 on YouTube) except I like the Kemper. Well, I like the idea - haven't been able to play it yet.

For your purposes, I highly recommend the "Tonehawk" pack, and it's a steal for $9.99 (check out the Tonehawk video: youtube.com/watch?v=w3OUK8mZ53s), and I find these profiles really excel and open up at live volumes. The FTR37 profiles are outstanding, and you can set up a whole performance with the various FTR37 profiles, as the pack has various pedals baked into the profiles.

(I hope I've got the quoting right there...)

Thanks - great tip there - the sounds on the video sound great and mostly up my street - particularly the divided by 13 ones.

Brand new to the forum here - I've just ordered the power rack + remote. I play guitar every week at our small new church (~50 people but punching above our weight in the music department)

Great to come to the forum and see this post straight away. Most videos that I've seen on the Kemper are with sounds that are at least as overdriven/distorted as a JCM800 - which always seems a bit too rock 'n' roll/bombastic for church music. At least in my context it is.

I've been using a Laney Cub12 (great amp for the money) but look forward to having more versatility with the Kemper. The plan is to have a performance slot for each guitar I use, with 5 rigs taking me from squeaky clean to distorted - and keeping the effects slots consistent between each one so that I don't get lost - probably clean boost/overdrive/modulation/delay-reverb.

I've been researching a ton profiles and botique amps to see what kind of thing might work best for me. Some of the 'theampfactory' profiles seem to be pretty decent but I can see M Britt is popular here so I'll have to look at those too. Can't wait to actually play the thing, but it's a 2/3 week wait from my supplier. And it'll feel longer than that.
