I have a pair of EV-ZLX-12P which are supposed to be 1000w (which is really 500 w rms) I play with a loud band and pass a certain in volume, the EV's sound starts to collapse. I've been looking at Atomic CLR's, Xitones, Friedman ASC 12 FRFR speakers, but all of them seem to have less power than the EV's. Any suggestions from anyone who has had a similar issue? Thanks

Amazing playing, the feel! Had to grab a guitar asap to try and copy the lick at 1:01-1:04. I'll sure check the vibrolux profiles you've uploaded on rig exchange, as well.
Thanks. It took me 5 times because I kept screwing that part up! I have issues with my left hand so my playing is not as consistent. One day I play good and some days horribly! My left was feeling good that day so I decided to record it to try to play the lead the way I recorded it originally when my left hand used cooperate. The lick at 1:01-1:04 is just a weird sweep which I'm approaching an old EVH lick differently.

Hello Eljodon,
You might wish to also look into the new Line 6 PowerCab monitors. The standard PowerCab (not the Plus version) retails for $599 USD, and features a coaxial 12" speaker system powered by a 250W (no fan) Class D power amp. It can operate in FRFR mode, or also in a unique mode in which the HF driver is disabled and Line 6 uses proprietary emulation on the LF driver to emulate 6 classic guitar speakers. People seem to love them, and there is a huge thread over at TGP.
I own a powered KPA, and already own a XiTone passive 1x12 wedge, which I am very satisfied and happy with. However, if I owned a non-powered KPA, I would definitely be looking at the PowerCab. I probably would opt for the "Plus" model, which also allows for user loadable IRs.

Cheers,
JohnThanks! I'm looking for a louder speaker. I'm currently using 2 EV ZLP-12P and they're 500w RMS and according to their specs they produce 130db. When I'm playing with my band they're just about as loud as I need them to be. I need speakers that produce at least as much power as the EV's. They sound ok but I need to do a lot of eqing because they produce to much bass and an high end. AccuGroove has a coaxial system but cost as much as the Atomic CLR but are conservatively rated at 300W RMS(according to the manufacturing) and the Atomic CLR are actually 250 RMS. I need something compact and lighter than my EV's.

I've been looking at FRFR speakers like the Xitones, Atomic CLR and others which use a coaxial speaker, but they're quite expensive. Xitones use the Dayton PMA800DSP power amp which puts out 600w RMS/200w RMS(at 4 Ohms) with Eminence coaxial speakers which only handles 200 watts rms with the low frequency driver and the ASD1001S 50 watt rms and they cost $899. For less or an equal amount of money I could have a equal or better system if I use a company to build me a cabinet, buy the Dayton PMA800DSP and use a B&C 12CHX76 at $482 or a B&C 12FC76 at $344 or perhaps a Celestion at $225( if I want to save some money).
Mojotone makes a 1 x 12" cabinets starting at $210. If I use the Celestion speaker the total would be $683 which would save me around $200. But it all depends how much it would cost to maybe make the cabinet slightly deeper, cut a 14" x 5.5" cavity on the the back to fit the plate power amp and perhaps add a port. Just my 2 cents. -
Top stuff George, which profile did you use?
Thanks! I used one of my Metro/Friedman 68' Plexi replica profiles. I might have it posted on rig exchange. I've done so much experimentation with different mics and speakers that I have a ton of profiles so I can't remember. But the Metro/Friedman should do it.

Such a lot of profiles George. Great work ! I will surely check them out. Thanks.
I hope you at least find a few that you like.

It's a Godsend for anyone who knows real amp sound...and can appreciate it. I've been playing all weekend and can't stop. Found this profile called KM Bog People that is just perfect for everything through the Normals Eminence Go cabinet. It's got everything going for it, and works so well on all my guitars without any further tweaking needed. I wasn't sure going from my Les Paul to Tele would work. OMG! Killer! Best amp tone I've found to date.
Sorry to hear about the spine issues. Get well soon...and if you make more videos, or recordings, I'll tune in. I enjoy your playing a lot.
Totally agree! And thank you!

Wowza! Nice job. You make it look so easy!
God, I remember discovering that (at the time underground) album when I was just a kid starting to build up my chops. What I would have done if a Kemper existed at that time! Who knows? All I had was two MXR Distortion+ stomps back to back (laughs). Best I could do at the time. Even later when I finelly got a Marshall JMP, that VH tone and distortion was one we all wanted, but could never really get. Now we know about the variac and 20 watt Celestion tone Eddie kept to himself at the time.
I have to believe the Kemper is making incredible players these days due to the sound, response and inspiration that real great tube amps can deliver. We are so spoiled! But today's young guitarist has incredible advantages we could only dream of back in the day. Lucky basteds!
Thank you! The Kemper has been a Godsend for me! Besides neck problems, I also have back problems which I might need to also have surgery on my lumbar area. I don't need to bring my huge rack, amps and cabs which I can no longer lift heavy stuff. All I'm using now is the Kemper, with an Eventide H9, 2 EV PA cabs and a Kemper remote with 3 expression pedals and that's it!
One thing that many people don't realize is that Eddie didn't use that much sustain or distortion which makes it harder to play. I also did half of his solo on the album and the last part was the live version he did which is the same as "Ice Cream Man" It was hard to play because I'm not allowed
bend my neck so I can barely see my guitar's neck. -

Did a quick video of one of my favorite VH tune. This was done 2 weeks after having a 3 level fusion on my neck, thats why I'm wearing a neck brace. I got the surgery because it was affecting my left hand. My left hand is getting better so I'm able to slowly play better than before! I used one of my profiles of my Metro/Friedman 68 Plexi. https://youtu.be/52pgHaY5pz4
Killer playing @eljodon if I could play half as good as that with a neck brace I'd be happier than a pig in shit lol.
Nice scalloped neck on that axe, sweet! May you have a steady and full recovery man
Thank you! I scalloped a few of my guitar's necks as a necessity due to the weakness of my hand. It helps me bend strings easier.

I wouldn't knock the new Axe Fx, although I think the Kemper sounds better, Fractal Audio is light years away when it comes to effects and the ability to have more control over many parameters. I've owned both Axe Fx Ultra and the Axe Fx 2 and they served me well for many years without any issues.
