Here is another di test somebody else did. I definitely feel there are tonal differences here too

I'll do that later, I'll upload the wavs, and the kipr files for you to try and see for yourselves.
-
Perhaps. But I don't have another to compare it with! Are you profiling high gain profiles too? The difference is more subtle on less gain profiles it seems to me...
-
Yes the feel is absolutely spot on. The difference is night and day. I would definitely not recommend the Behringer for direct profiles!!
-
Update! I've just received the Kemper DI today and did some more direct profiles. Massive difference to using the Behringer!! As I suspected the Behringer didn't cut it - the Kemper DI is MUCH better and the results a MUCH closer to the amp tone. Very very please.
Anyway, here's some clips of this 5153 profile. I've merged it with a cab from another profile (Same for each). My PC speakers don't really demonstrate the difference but I'm sure you'll notice the difference on headphones or monitors.

I'm only concerned about high gain DI profiles with this issue
-
I tried refining with higher strings but it didn't work. I've tried skipping refining TBH it's better than refining! But it's still not quite right. i've asked Kemper if I can purchase one of their DIs. If I get one, I'll try it and report back!
-
OK I'll give that a go tonight. So out of interest, why do you think that will work?
-
But i'm doing a DI profile not a studio one...??
-
Yeah I'm not cranking the amp too much. But I'm comparing the real head then switching the cables round to hear the Kemper DI and they're just not the same.
Chords and general tone sound fine, but as soon as I mute and chug on low strings it's completely different.
I'll try and record some sound clips and demonstrate what I mean...

Don't think there are input attenuation settings with the Ultra G, just output attenuator buttons
-
I've been direct profiling my 5153 50w. I'm using a Behringer Ultra G di box.
The low end definition is flubby and I just can't get it the same as the head!
There's just more punch and crunch on muted note runs that I can't get the Kemper to recreate.
I'm wondering if the Behringer Ultra G di could be the problem?
(Yes I've tried playing with the post profiling controls and refining - they all seem to make it worse!)
Anybody compared the Behringer Ultra G di with other DIs for comparison?
Thanks!

So after speaking to Kemper support they suggested this:
Start the profiler with the rig button pressed. This will give you an initialised rig that you can tailor to your needs.
That's what I do now before I start profiling to ensure I don't get the persons name in the rig currently in Browser. A bit lame if you ask me, I think it should ask you the question when you start profiling if it's a new rig of if you're continuing a session. Meh.

So I worked out my problem - hopefully this will help anybody else he might do this.
I was turning off the reference amp to hear the Kemper profile but not turning it back on again during refining!! Make sure the reference amp is on during the refining process (-;
I've mentioned it to Kemper support so maybe in a future version it might warn you that there is no reference amp signal before refining!
-
I'm still having problems refining Direct Amp Profiles.
Here are some example files.

Anybody else either having success or trouble with refining direct amp profiles?
-
I'm having trouble with refining with Direct Amp Profiles, the profile simply becomes muffled and unusable after refining. i've been in contact with Kemper support about it.
They tell me you probably shouldn't need to refine it with Direct Amp Profiles.

Direct amp profile
-
I've just tried to do a direct profile using 3.0.1 but the refining process ruined the profile!
i hit refined, played a bit and the profile just became more and more muffled. Anybody else experienced this?
here's a video to try and demonstrate the behaviour:

So tonight I tried my stereo cab to direct profile. Kemper on left, 5153 on right.
After profiling I tried A/B ing using the soft buttons on the kemper.
problem is the reference a,p is never muted! So when I press kemper I get both the profile and the reference amp. I realise this is the behaviour for studio profiles, but it doesnt make sense when direct profiling.
anybody else agree?

No that isn't it - I tried turning the noise gate down. It's like a high pitched robotic whine.
