The cabs that can be "swapped"... are they impulses converted to .kipr? Or are they virtually any profile, where the Kemper "assumes" the frequenses of the cab, so you can swap any cab from any profile? It's funny, cause I don't have as many cab options on my Kemper as I have profiles.

Been wondering about the same thing.
It even changes the sound when unselecting the cabinet, from a profile without a cabinet profiles.

Correct. GT1000FX

I got the Matrix today.
They sound extremely similar! So similar it almost isn't worth mentioning... i found the Matrix to be ever so slightly warmer and "maybe" a bit punchier. The B&O is eevvver so slightly more defined.
We are splitting hairs... and it might change around turning up the volume even more.
Ill keep the Matrix in the rack with the Kemper, in case i need it. I haven't gigged the Kemper, or rehearsed with it, so I need to try my way around. -
Right of course! i wasn't thinking here

OK cool!
So in reality, you can also just profile already recorded guitars from former projects.

Is it coming to make good profiles through a computer sound card, if you do not own an analogue mixer for multiple mics? I could imagine using the S/PDIF out from the sound card to the Kemper, to avoid double converting.
Ofcourse you get the AD converting going on in the sound card instead of the Kemper.. I own an RME fire face UC. I use API preamps in 500 series rack format.
Are there any disadvantages doing it this way, instead of a regular analogue mixer doing the summoning?

Well, it would make for a killer wet/dry/wet rig Dry rig out through the KPA amp.. wet stereo through the two Matrix channels. It seems like a winning setup haha.
-
Ok, i'm starting to see the potential now haha
-
Awesome :)) can cabmaker profile cabs "stand alone" with a neutral amp:.. For instance the KPA one. Then use the profiles in the cabinet section of the rig?
-
So it's algorithms calculating the "assumed" frequencies that the cab has?
Can you load any sort of impulse into your Kemper then? Say, I make a profile of my JMP direct out, and impulses of all my cabs... is it possible mix & match to your liking?
-
Alright, thanks allot for the answer I'm quite new to the Kemper, and there is ALLOT of info to grasp, so one needs to ask sometimes.
One question more:
I noticed you can change cabinets. I assume that function only works 100% great, if you profile the amp from from a direct tap, right after the power amp "for instance with a Suhr ISO line out" then add a cabinet impulse response? Is that a correct assumption?
it seems you can more or less change cabs around from different profiles, no matter if the creator of the profile, profiled the while rig or not. I'd assume it's not replicating as well, as if the various "sections" was profiled or captured separately? How do you know if the rig is ONE complete profile, or divided into AMP OUT DIRECT + CAB impulse?
-
Can you add profiled stomps "for instance a personal overdrive, crucial for you sound" into the stomp section? To add into the stomp section instead of the stock ones?
Thanks!
-
Shit, i'm uncovered! Well more is more... KPA amp + Matrix = loud enough.
-
Blend options on OD stomps would be very useful.
-
Thats awesome :D! thanks for the reply. I actually just ordered a Matrix gt1000fx to see for myself. Maybe ill stick it in a rack with the Kemper just as "backup" in case the Kemper can't hold up. It's also possible to use all three channels then.. for instance, the Kemper amp dry and the Matrix L/R running wet FX.

50 watt marshalls didn't come in smallbox headsize in '74. only big box... something isn't right.
-
Thanks I just wondered is anyone has an opinion about the Kemper B&O amp compared to the Matrix?
-
Bump, no-one tried both solutions up against each other?
-
Has anyone A-B'ed them through a guitar cab?
I usually rehearse with a 100w Marshall JMP at 12 i clock... very loud, but I need it, cause we play really loud. I'm afraid the KPA amp will loose too much dynamics at those volumes. How does the KPA B&O amp compare to the 1000w Matrix 1u amp? Same amount of "hugeness" ?
I do play allot at home also, and the fan in the Matrix would maybe get annoying.
Cheers
