I’m wanting to start recording guitar with the KPA but am very much a noob.
I’ve been advised that Reaper is a good daw to start with but I’m looking for advice on how to connect the KPA to my Mac. I believe I need some kind of interface box?Any advice would be most welcome.

Has anyone managed to capture that slow tremolo effect Kings of Leon have in Closer?
If so please share, it's doing my head in trying to do it. -
I use a Matrix FR10. I've owned & used both CLRs & DXR10s but the Matrix is the best to my ears for the profiles & music I play.
-
Following this thread as I have the same problem profiling my Jubilee. Again with a Behringer DI box.
-
I'm in Leicester & they are all in great condition and have covers included (and speakers stands if you want them).
-
I have three Yamaha DXR 10 speakers for sale in the UK at £350 each.
-
OK, had another go last night and neither the output or input led flashes, and the direct output is indeed set to Git Analog.
I'm going to eliminate the DI box as an issue by trying a miced studio profiling approach next I think. -
Hi, I'm using a Behringer DI600P between a Jubilee 2525H and a cab. I'm taking the DI box XLR output to the KPA Return Input, and the KPA Direct Output/Send to the Jubilee input.
The DI box Input is set to Amp (-30dB).I've tried to profile this several times today and have adjusted the KPA input level from so low, it failed to profile, upwards but it always sounds way too distorted.
I'm sure I'm doing something obviously wrong so if someone could gently point out my stupidity I'll be enormously grateful. -
Apart from the Ambrosi, which is no longer on the shelves, there are other retrofit options.
See for example here and this video:

Real shame you can't get the Kemper powered module on its own. I have an unpowered toaster and would love to add the KPA power module to play through my cabs.
-
I like to use Rig Manager to load the Rigs into the Performances on my KPA when I am creating them. All ll it takes is a double click
Thats what I do too.
Dead easy creating new performances in RM. Just copy & paste the performance, then I copy & paste the rigs I need into each slot (Intro, crunch, lead, etc). -
Bought. Gonna use max with GB's for Livin on a Prayer lead

What is the best practice for profiling an amp with its cab where the profile will be used live with a FRFR monitor?
-
Have you checked the output level setting on the monitor out? You probably know this but the monitor & main output volumes can be set independently.
-
I'm using a powered Matrix 1x12 now having previously been down the CLR & DXR road. Much happier with this.
-
Output volume normaliser.
I find it extremely frustrating trying to balance the output volume from different rigs in different performances.
And 5 gigs in it's still not right. -
These are interesting. What type music do you play, and what didn't you like about the DXR10?I'm lead guitar in a 5 piece rock covers band and only the vocals are through the PA as we're playing small pubs etc. I've come to favour MBritts Marshall profiles for pretty much everything. We do stuff from Kings of Leon, Jet, Metallica, GnR, Foo Fighters, AC/DC, Muse and so on. The second guitar (Rhythm) uses an Orange head & cab & I never felt that the DXR10 really sounded big or full enough in comparison against it. The Matrix FR12 sounded great last night though & I'm definately gonna use it as my backline on the next gig. It's really light too, which is always welcome
I was actually a little surprised that it was so good, I was trying it out as almost something of a last resort and was seriously looking at going back to my DSL40C & pedals.
-
Always liked my KPA through the fx return of my DSL40 more than my DXR10. But tonight I tried out a Matrix FR12 in rehearsal & that was better still & will be my live setup from now on.
-
I think the DXR10 does indeed sound boxy sometimes, I've found turning up the volume more reduces that problem though
I've also just pulled the trigger on a Matrix FR12 & I'm looking forward to comparing these two side by side.
