Outside of the Kemper I have actually made progress.

Back in 2014 I paid a really good guitar tech to mod 2 of my guitars with Roland GK-KIT-GT3, a PRS S2 (1st gen, main guitar for last 10yrs) and PRS SE 24.

Early last year my band 40 Day Warning lost our bassist and we couldn't seem to find a replacement, so, I dug out my Boss GP10 and made a custom patch for bass. By default the E string is always on, then, pedal 1 is E+A and pedal 2 is E+A+D. I press the pedal depending on bass strings needed.

In the last quarter of last year I then got the Boss SY1000, which seems to respond better (less latency?), again using a custom preset to manipulate the strings on/off.

This is then run into a Fender Rumble Stage 800 amp.

The guitar side is it's own thing, digital modeller into JCM2000 TSL 122 power amp.

Did anyone figure out the problem? I am also having the same problem on my quite recently built PC to where I today installed Reaper and couldn't get the Kemper ASIO to work. I can choose it on the Reaper settings but nothing to choose on the inputs. Just to test, I installed Reaper also to my windows laptop and there it worked so was able to confrim that the problem is only on the PC.

Same behaviour on my desktop. Windows 11, i7 6700k, Asus z170 pro gaming, 32GB ram. I'm sure at one point it worked as I remember testing it.

My interest in this is purely as an extra feature of the Kemper. It's not mission critical for me, so, if it doesn't work it doesn't work.

I use a Focusrite Clarett 2pre USB as my everyday interface and RME HDSPE AIO Pro for heavy lifting.

Occasionally I will also use my RME Babyface and Focusrite 18i20 1st gen.

    Windows 11 Pro 23H2 - i7 6700k @ 4.4Ghz, 32GB DDR4 3200Mhz ram, RTX3080ti, separate SSD for OS and Reaper.

    Reaper 64bit running only 2 tracks :-

    1. Midi drums - EZ Drummer 3 + Waves GEQ Modern Stereo

    2. Pre-recorded Boss SY1000 Bass track - Waves AR TG Mastering Mono + GEQ Modern Mono

Master Channel - Ozone 11 Standard

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kemper Directsound - working, but, glitchy when running vsts - 44.1Khz 31/103ms in/out latency

Kemper Waveout - working and stable, but, higher latency - 44.1Khz 24bit 43/187ms in/out latency

Kemper Asio - Shows up in Reaper, but, inputs and outputs are blank. Fails to load the ASIO driver, Reaper asks for Retry etc.

Youtube and system sound is also working (Kemper - USB Audio (Class Compliant) mode.

Kemper - Native Audio (ASIO) is not working at all.

There's more chance that mobiles running Android will be supported, then, back ported to Linux.

However, there's also the Steam Deck pushing for improved support on Linux for gaming. Considering Steam also sells music making software, then, there's a chance that the tide will turn sooner rather than later.

On the other hand; there's also Windows supporting ARM, so, we could potentially see even wider adoption for Windows, rather than less.

The truth is we're greedy mf's and want everything. I've even profiled my favourite Guitar Rig 4 sounds onto my Kemper. I've even profiled Bias Amp amps from my ipad. Why do I have over 25k profiles? Because it stops the GAS.

As soon as I saw Neural Quad Cortex profiles I downloaded them. Do I actually own that piece of hardware? Nope. Do I feel like I've got something similar? Yes. Am I greedy? Absolutely.

At this point there is no doubt that the plugins are here to stay and they are not "toys" anymore . Just recently an upcoming metal band that some of you might know, called Spiritbox, released they debut album. Completely recorded using the Archetype Nolly for the dirty sounds and Plini for some cleans.

The album has gone to number 13 in Billboard 200, so I think that can be called very serious recording too.

Mike Stringer, the guitar player, was previously using a Kemper live and now he uses the Quad Cortex.

That's the thing though, there's too many tone chasers with no songs. If you've got the songs then it doesn't matter what you use. Whether that's a cheapo Valeton GP100, Kemper or full tube amp + pedalboard setup.

Hardly ever used setlists unless it was an important gig. It really depends on your own competency.

In rehearsal we play our songs deliberately in a random order so we can play any song at any time. However, its a full amp and pedalboard setup. Although I can do most stuff just using a Valeton GP100 in Stomp mode and 2 patches.

Thanks JimmiKatt, but, that didn't work for me

However, I managed to fix it.

    Go to;

    1. Control Panel

    2. Hardware and Sound

    3. Devices and Printers

    4. Mouse 2 over 'Profiler' and select 'Properties'

    5. Select 'Hardware' tab then click 'Properties' box

    6. In the new pop-up box in 'General' select 'Change Settings'

    7. Another box will pop-up. Now select 'Driver' tab, then, click 'Update Driver'.

    8. It should now detect the Kemper Profiler and will work again with RM.
