You're absolutely right. I had my remote connected and I have the wah set to auto engage when the pedal isn't at toe. I uploaded a version with the wah off. New links in original post.

Well, it IS the perfect backup to your real amp if you profile it, right?
-
Made another profile of OD2 Green and added above. I like it with LP or Tele.
-
Isn't that the color they've always been?

I did sell my non-powered toaster, with the idea of getting a power head at some point. With the price drop, I figured now was a good time. Glad you enjoyed the Splawns!

Spent some time profiling my JVM's OD1 and OD2 channels today with, I believe, amazing results. The direct portion of these merged profiles is identical to my amp. I could not tell the difference through my cab using my power head. The studio portion is just fun. No effects, add your own. Captured through a 412 of Creamback 75s. Enjoy!

I am not arguing that it makes sense on paper but in reality, how many times have you heard a bar band cover an AC/DC song? I have never in my life heard of a band paying royalties to another band for playing their song.
ASCAP fees. The venue is supposed to pay them. There was a time not too long ago where they started cracking down on venues for not complying. -
My understanding of this particular compressor is that it is used to boost the volume of the clean sound of a dirty amp when you roll back the guitar volume knob. Try it. Take a dirty profile, put compressor at zero, and then note the difference in overall volume when rolling back the guitar volume. Now put the compressor up around halfway and try the same thing. Hear how the cleaned up tone remains at the same volume as the dirty tone?
By the way, this is actually in the manual.
"Distorted signals are not affected by compression; so only clean signals will be
boosted. The dynamics of your playing are fully retained, so, purely by the strength of your picking, you can go from
a crunchy sound to a compressed, clean sound. The volume knob on your guitar works exactly as you would expect:
for instance, reducing the volume of your guitar will transform a dynamic crunch into a clean, compressed sound with
full energy. " -
So now that 4.x is out of beta...
[Blocked Image: http://www.conveyancing24-7.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/delay.jpg]
...too soon?
Can't come soon enough. Bring them on!!! 4.x release only took...what?....4 months? Or was it longer? Here's hoping for the delays and verbs in a few months.

My buddy has a Matchless Phoenix 35 combo which he uses with various OD pedals and some Strymon effects on the back end. Sounds great. Sounds even better when cranked up, but even though we run pretty loud in our church auditorium, cranking it on stage isn't desirable. He was going to go with a solution of putting his amp in a isolation box off stage but that required about $600 worth of Radial boxes and some construction. Not a big deal, but he knew I had a KPA at home and wanted to give it a shot.
Spent literally 5 minutes before rehearsal between dialing in his amp and capturing the profile. The drummer, sound guy, my buddy, and I all heard the amp before the test run of the profile and it was glorious, but none of us were really expecting what we heard through the PA when the sound guy cranked up the KPA. He didn't even EQ the channel. It was a perfect reproduction of his amp, right down to the dynamics. He was floored, and quite frankly, I didn't expect it to go THAT well. We changed nothing after profile. No amp EQ, no amp parameters, no playing with the gain knob, nothing. It was his first time playing without a real amp and he said he didn't even miss it. Nothing tripped him up or caused him concern. What he really loved, is that he could keep his pedalboard investment intact. Now he's looking to sell one of his other amps to get a KPA.
And if I'm honest, I'm sorely tempted to switch out my Axe-Fx with the KPA in this instance. I'll probably wait on that until the 5.0 firmware with updated delays and hopefully reverbs, but I might just use some Strymon gear for that and be done. I'm wrestling with this a bit because my rig works perfectly fine the way it is, but the ease of dialing in effects with over the Axe is tempting. And I have some pretty great profiles at my disposal.

Profiled my buddy's Matchless last night. When we fired up this profile directly to the PA...wow. Direct replacement of his amp. Profile loves pedals just like the original. I honestly couldn't tell the difference.

Problem is many users, I'd say majority, are more interested in gear than actual playing. Hence, editors/delays...
Don't think that's a fair assessment. I want the new delays and reverbs because I want those sounds for live playing. I suspect that's the case for the majority of those who want them too.
-
Warnings I can understand, but bans... Really?
If they're beta testers and under NDA, they're lucky a ban is all they got. They could easily be sued.
-
ust wait for 5.0 i think it might come this SPRING @djemass
We're halfway through Spring already and 4.x is still in beta, hasn't even been release. I fully don't expect 4.x release for another month at this rate, and you know 5.x will be months, if not a year. Probably more like the latter. That's been the pace so far.
-
Number of profiles affecting the run time?
-
the way I look at it is that you shouldn't fire a tube amp up and grind straight away anyway - you either start very softly and work your way up or let it sit and warm up. Either way, it takes a whole lot longer than the KPA's boot time.
I kind of look at it that way too, but I agree that the boot up process takes far too long and I only have a small hand full of profiles loaded. My Axe-Fx takes about 8 seconds like Ben's. The Helix, a little longer than that. I remember vaguely that the boot time was addressed many firmware revisions ago and it seemed to have improved, but with 3.x and above, the wait time seems to have gotten much longer.

So far, my favorite modded Plexi type pedal, and maybe my favorite profile that I've created. Give it a shot with any guitar. It worked awesome with my Strat, Tele, or LP.

Thanks a lot for these two profiles - the V30 and Creamback - Splawn streetrod profiles. The comparison is illuminating and the tones are both very usable. Much obliged.
You're quite welcome.
Just to clarify, the other profile was a Celestion V-Type. It's very different from a V30.

Profile of my Wampler Plexi Drive Deluxe into my Hot Rod DeVille ML.
Bass: 12:00
Middle: 12:00
Treble: 11:00
Post Gain: 1:00
Bass Boost: off
Bright Boost: on
Pre-Gain: offThis sounds good with Strat, Tele, or LP. Screamer stomp emulates the Pre Gain, and the Gain knob on the KPA does a great job of matching (to a point) increasing the gain on the pedal itself.
