It seems the Player is the first Kemper product that gets quite some critical feedback from the user community. Including me.

I have a hard time understanding where they want to go with it.

I can't use performances, I can't use morph and I can't use lot of the FX algorithms.

So as a backup for my Kemper Head for gigs...ots OK. But no substitute whatsoever and even as a backup I would have a hard time playing live with it (for the mentioned limitations).

If I would just want a pedal with some great sounding amps for my pedal board I'd get the ToneX (Although that is missing the monitor output) or the Line6 PodGo.

I'm sure its a good fit for quite some people....but I have a feeling it could have been better for the price.

On a side note: I find it quite amusing how suddenly people here develop a certain Fractal-ity when it comes to criticism of the Player.

You not only have fewer FX slots (which is totally understandable regarding the price), but you also only get some the effect algorithms (for example no kemper drive, no Kemper Fuzz, no special delays and reverbs,...)

I apprecaite there's not much you can do with it without the editor software anyhow.

In a gig scenario, most players can make do with an LED to indicate a unit is on or off.

Parameters values and setings are recalled as set-up during your preparation or rehearsal time- thats's the beauty of digital/modelling gear.

How many of us rely on (or have the time) to go in to menus and display-details during an actual live show?

I admit, its nice to see the name of my bank on my remote but other than confirmation of the slot i have chosen via the LED helps.

If adding a screen added another £100 / $100 to the unit would it be more or less attractive?

Well, as it can't do performances as well...you are right. You don't need a display as you only have 3 sounds at your disposal. So no real need to see if you are on the right sound.

No display, no buy.

Would have bought it ...BUT: no display is a no-go for me

For all the "bought YouTubers": you DO remember all the "gamechanger" content when the Kemper came out.

So far from what I heard, the Tonex can sound fantastic and should also feel really really good.

That is a great thing, as competition can be good with technology.

Your Kemper doesn't get worse with another piece of gear being up there or even better.

Amd the Tonex still misses a Pro version for touring pros with XLR outs and a separate output for using it with a poweramp and cab.

And probably some FX.

Don't forget that the Kemper has a watt meter in the output section.

Most rich people here just inherited. And one you are already rich, its easy to get richer.

What output do you have connected to the Kabinet? Do you have monitor output connected and in the output section monitor output turned up? Do you send the right signal to that output? (Full monomaster?)

Did you try another cable?

I have it and although its a tight fit the EP1 next to a cable fits into the sidepocket

Any chance that you monitor directly from the mixer of the Apogee AND from logic? So maybe theres some phase cancelling going on due to different latencies of both mixes.

In all honesty: maybe invest in a soundguy you know and trust for important gigs.

Was asking the same a year back. Hope there will be some new additions soon in the range of modern speakers like Heso und DV-77
