did you really set your chain up like this?
bass > kpa input > kpa direct out/send > fuzz > amp > kpa return
that´s how it is described in the manual, that´s how I did it countless times with success.
As I mentioned before, some fuzz pedal need to "see" a guitar pickup at the input, so a pickup siumulation device is needed additionally.
A reamping box is not needed at all. -
I don´t get these requests.
I consider myself very picky with guitar tones, but I cannot see enough situations to justify internal convolution technique or other ambient effects to be added to the KPA effects.
For playing live I use reverb as an effect or it´s off.
In the studio I´m after dry tones, with all options left to place them in the right room/space of the song.
And for headphone playing I´m pretty happy with a dose of reverb already available in the KPA.And I like to add that I´m happy about every dose of noise the KPA loses in the profiling process. There may be some folks who like buzzing, humming and hissing - I don´t know any, and I myself hate it

the fuzz edal will not influence the profiling process. -
what fuzz pedal do you use?
some fuzz pedals need to "see" a guitar pickup at their input, they don´t work as expected with incoming buffered signals. In such a case you need to use a pickup simulator in front of the fuzz while profiling. Built one for yourself: http://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?topic=79611.0 -

Did you run through preamps, or just the Heil directly into the Kemper? What was your gain setting for the Ch3 profile? I have some test clips I did at about 12 o'clock the last time I played one, and that felt about right for high-gain rhythms.
as far as I remember, I used a Chandler Germanium preamp, that does slighlty add some colour.
The gain setting for CH3 must have been 12 o´clock or lower. -
The VH4 profiles that came stock in my unit, by "RU Sirius", were actually modeled by Christoph -- or so they say in the credits. Unclear if they used SLO type circuits during modeling, or if those circuits simply model better for whatever chance reason. I am however sure that if these guys really sat around with a bunch of high gain amps and went super micro picky on it, they'd nail it. But you do have to be a bit of high gain aficionado to want to do that.
If you've got any A/B Diezel clips I'd love to hear them -- I've played VH4s and will try to get my hands on one to model if I can.
just for clarification, because I´m mentioned here:
my VH-4 profiles were done by me alone, I had some issues to get the tagging right back then, so Christoph got some credits accidently
I did nothing fancy for profiling, just VH-4, Diezel 4x12" cab, Heil PR-40 mix.To add some to the discussion:
I play a Diezel Herbert amp for 6 years now and know it very well. All the profiles of that amp, including my own, are not close enough to what I believe is the REAL Herbert sound. And yes, the problem is in the lower mids, where the Herbert has it´s unique strength, which sets it apart from every other amp I know.
I plan to do some more profiles to steal Herbert´s secrets at lastOn the other hand, I have to say that the results of my Herbert profiles are more than useable. I do not hear the real thing, when playing them, but I get a tone, that is ready for recording and fun to play.

In my two live rigs I use a Line6 M9 in front of the amp mainly for modulation FX, an Eventide Time Factor in one rig and a Line 6 Delay Pro unit in the other one for advanced delay stuff and a Rocktron Replifex for simple delays, reverbs and noise gate.
The axeFX would be my first choice if I ever built a new rig.
PS: I still have a Boss SE70 here, which I retired some years ago. Even after almost 20 years an awesome unit!

In fact the profiles of my preamps are straight through, no EQ, no compressiopn, just two different gain settings, "+" means more gain.
You have to keep in mind that you´re dealing with a guitar amplifier, and therefore with an input specified for guitar use.
When you connect a microphone or a line level signal, distortion may occur.
Have you tried to bring the distortion down by setting Clean Sens lower? -

this was a quick profiling session of a friend´s rig, Diezel Einstein and Engl 2x12" cab with Vintage 30s, SM57 straight to the point where the cone meets the membrane.
He´s going to change the speakers to Celestion G12K100s soon. We wanted to make a nice before/after comparsion, so we´ll redo the profiles with the new speakers.
The V30 turned out quite nice, so I decided to share them with you. If the K100s will be of equal quality, you can look forward to some more Einstein profiles -

what was your setup you programmed the presets for? And what kind of a guitar do you use with them?
I´m a bit confused with Amp and Cab switched off and the mids cranked full on most profiles.
Also strange: my vintage strat is clipping some of the profiles, however Clean Sense is on 0! -
don´t pay too much attention to the stars. There were a lot of one star ratings in the last time, most of them on excellent profiles....
I shortly checked out your new profiles, real hi gain monsters! I prefered changing the cab for a more "in your face" sound.
There were some keepers among them!
