Lead boost is the most overlooked feature ever. That goes for every manufacturer of every amp / modeler / footswitch made, with the exception of some of the mesa amps. Every amp/footswitch should have a boost (solo) switch and every channel on any amp/preamp/modeler/profiler should have a boost volume value.
By the way, I know there are ways around it, but you shouldn't have to jump through such hoops to use a feature that almost every guitarist uses.

+1, again and again...

No mate, I don't really like playing through monitors. I like the trouser-flapping-head-thumping wallop that you get from a 4x12 cab. I always ask the soundman at gigs to kill my guitar in the monitors completely, and to just give me some kick drum....and to still offer you something usefull: maybe this could be of interest for you - you can leave the cab-sim on and still have someone to take care of your trousers. since you have the passive version: they do offer poweramps as well.

dude, i appreciated your balanced opinion, but this thread was doomed from the beginning... it's like jumping in a bathtub filled with piranhas and asking them "if you don't bite me, i'll tell you a secret..." apologies though, i can see my contribution in further derailing... just tried to throw them another bait peace.

I plan to make more to share. Are these still available? I can't find them in the RE or the search. I think you guys found them the 72 hours we had them up before we deleted and made new ones and uploaded them to be named.
can't find them either...?

to op: if it's in your price range check out the rcf tt 25 sma, i used it a while and found it pretty awesome.
-
you got it right bro

yeah, sounds pretty counter-intuitive... maybe mothership could confirm, but as far as i unterstood, it boosts the perceived loudness, therefore reduces headroom
-> reduced 'spikes'...good luck and please report back about the 2x12 option. if they come out with a vertical design, i'd buy it in a heartbeat...
-
so far i just managed to blow something clean... well, you get the message. if i'm not mistaken, the poweramp-boost - if applied generously - is supposed to 'compress' your signal just a bit and therefore keep those cleanish speakerkillers down for just a bit longer...
-
...be sure to turn up the power amp boost a fair bit, which in the end is supposed to reduce spl-spikes in uncompressed sounds and... well, the celestion century vintage is only 150,-€ - you could drag one along as backup exchange is easy. unfortunately it sounds like i know the problem...
i'd love to have an option in the (powered) kpa to offer some limiter where you just dial in the eventual speaker wattage of your cab and be on the safe side... one century vintage might be "cheapishly" replaced, but how about 4 alnicos...?

zombie, where are you from? if you happen to stop by in munich, i still have a pedalboard with all the okkos and some others. fwiw, i tried a lot of pedals once and really liked the okko-stuff, especially twin-sonic & diablo. also great to have both in a row... : )
