I was considering and exploring displays as well, especially for rehearsals or gigs. At home it isn't needed as it is connected to the computer.

Then I explored color patterns on the device related to banks and found them more than sufficient to me. My notes by the songs were replaced by color code. Instead of a number or name of a preset I have a color code written there. As easy as that. There is no need to have a display anymore.

Generic Gain
While the regular Gain control is narrowed down to the authentic gain range of the selected Amp Model, the Generic
Gain control in the menu still represents the wide Gain control of the PROFILER. When you move any of the two
Gain controls, you will observe that both are linked – they will move simultaneously, but at different speeds and
values. With the Generic Gain control, however, you can choose to exceed the maximum limit of the model Gain
control. When “Kemper Generic” model is selected, then the regular Gain control and the Generic Gain show the
same value.
✓ If you intend to morph the gain of a Liquid Profile, you need to set Morphing up for Generic Gain!

I'm using this way:

1 In the Logic Pro, Settings, Audio, Input Device - Profile USB Audio (Class Compliant)
2 In the Logic Pro, the Audio track, there are four Inputs, you can select various combinations
3 These four Inputs are corresponding with settings in the Rig Manager with these settings on the Output tab:

You can setup up various combinations. What's set up here, in the Rig Manager, corresponds with what I record in Logic Pro.

It's convenient to use these predefined settings, I'm using Basic Home Studio. Left click on the Output text opens these possibilities:

You've described only raw audio, you can get it by selecting DI possibilities. Here is an example from the Output tab in the Rig Manager, 1+2 Source:
