Thank you, for your responses. I am just kind of a tech guy. The Kemper is cool as it is, sure.

It crossed my mind being a nice feature to work with virtual electronic components maybe in a separated Lab section or so, kind of extra feature. For me it would be interesting to dive into Amp Design on a digital/virtual basis. See what happens if you change tubes, circuit conceptions and other related parameters of single electronic components (resistors, capacitors etc). Just a thought, btw...

I guess, it´s more kind for the feature list, after having come to senses again. Maybe kind human beings should move this topic first...

...Kind of a lab section in the KEMPER Profiler juggling with virtual components and their parameters based on a preconfigured overall "Ur-" (primeval should be the word here) Amp design to tweak to all likings...

    - BUT: let´s move it first

...wouldn´t it be the thing to create kind of an Ur Amp to dial from to ones own likings. Not that I could and I know it´s a concept to strive for certain sounds being known or used to from traditional analog solutions. I would not need the approach targeting existing amp references too much under all conditions, I guess. There will be foundational rules for an overall amp sound with irregularities to add characteristics, something like a slick laboratorium section in the Profiler. Am I missing something maybe...

Forgive me: It´s early in the morning just woke up with that in mind. :/

Deniztoker ruled out the Apogee (??) with my and others hints setting the profiler as the DAW device for troubleshooting in reducing the error sources...(at least Post #8). Otherwise the whole thing would have been pointless so far Robrecht, true. I would be surprised, if it is a compatibility thing with latest updates as the OSX is well inside the announced requirements. We already suggested, that the chain is KEMPER USB Out > MAC > DAW Audio Device: Profiler (thus excluding Apogee sound card for an initial troubleshooting concept).

Step 2) Even if Apogee is involved, setting Kemper´s Main Outs to "Stereo Master" the physical jack could be connected running cables to an additional audio device feeding the DAW set to Apogee. I am not sure if two USB connections may confuse a setup with automated recognizing several Audio devices from the MACOS. As said: The first step is the reduction of error sources, of course, and properly setting the DAW´s audio device.

Step 3) Creating a dedicated Audio Aggregate in MIDI-Audio-Setup could do the trick with the desire using several audio devices, maybe for recording more tracks at once...

Could do PROFILER 2.0 with mk1. That folder exists in Stage mk1 after updating to newest version, right?

Maybe an idea for A/B testing both hardware foundations with the same DI Files:

    - A/B testing a DI on same Rig.

    - Tweaking Mk1 to Mk2 et al...?

    - "Can you feel latency differences" in those milli second ranges, and for me personally: Does it matter at all, i.e. for studio/producer discussions with the analog purists?...

I looked a bit for a download archive on the Homepage, but probably downgrading with specified older versions is more a thing for the support in terms of latest working configuration. It seems that Rig Manager and Profiler OS are interdependent, which can be an error source, if both don´t match. My shot here is using latest versions and go with the automated updating process.

One thing I probably would do is backupping everything on at least(!) two different locations and reinitialize the Kemper and see what it does.

Make sure you don´t lose any important performances or rigs, maybe export single files of them to make perfectly sure not to lose important data. Do all this in a quiet moment not rushing anything. It´s pretty easy and the documentation is good here. Before the final initialization, which deletes all of your custom rigs and performances, rehearse exporting and importing rigs as far as possible,

    Oh, man, sorry to hear...

Of course, there is a chance for incompatibilities in digital systems, but my hope always is there is something very basic in the inner workings, when I experience weird behaviour, I can´t get into. I had it once that a notation software pulled down the channels in the mixer for some reason after launching, something like that. I really did not know what it was and magically at a certain point in time the issue disappeared. Could be some CC controller or any kind of changed tick box, whatever. Your issue is hard to figure out from the distance. I read through the manual, but can´t recall any cautious setting to prevent ear damage or some setting in that direction which might mute outputs as a default or such.

Another idea on the DAW direction: In Logic Pro X there are some tick boxes to enable core audio or in more detail software monitoring. I attach some photos...

You should be well inside the system requirements with MacOSX 12.* with the latest version (v.4.2). Rig manager automatically prompts for updating itself here. I guess, you should download the latest installer manually from the website, at least when you clean up the old installation.

Make sure, the audio driver tick box is checked and to install v.14.1 of the Profiler OS, as rig manager requires it, see attachment. You should match the Rig Manager version and Profiler OS. It´s an automated process, when installing the latest Rig Manager and open it the first time as I experience it.

It can be a compatibility thing, sure. In a specific case, which downgrade would correspond to which MacOSX I am not experienced to say. Taking compatibility into account of course, "above" at first glance to me sounds like the actual Profiler OS v.14.** should do it, if no further restrictions are published.

I would see a customized USB stick installation of older Profiler OS from kind of an archive part on the website, if these exist. Getting a confirmation on a functional downgrade sounds like a direct support kind of thing, if it´s a bug.

I found this thread at least relating:

    a) Your PROFILER requires an update.

    b) "Your PROFILER requires an update." Bug

Some approaches in the threads incorporate deleting old system files from the computer. In those cases I am using App cleaner on Mac, which is free (AFAIK) and helps to spot related files, that it deletes then on a mouse click, without going through the depth of the ~Library area and helps to find more hidden system files. You could try to clean the installed Rig Manager with the App Cleaner before a fresh installation of Rig Manager then, your last working version.

Anyways, no sound to and from the DAW with an internally working Profiler and standard settings is an interesting case. Would be appreciated to know, what solves the issue...

As far as I am experienced the actual Rig Manager prompts for the actual OS version and installs it, if you apply. There are alternative ways to install the Profiler Operating System via a USB Stick, but I am not experienced here.

In SYSTEM when you page right some times (Page 12/12 in the Stage), you will see the actual OS Version. What does it say?

Here is the Download page housing the actual versions: https://www.kemper-amps.com/downloads

Anyways, MAC "should" recognize the unit without any further steps. Does the Profiler show up as audio device in your DAW?

In the OUTPUT Section page 7/10 (USB Audio) you should set:

Amp recording (top left) (NOT Reamping)

1+2 Source: Master Stereo (left soft knob)

3+4 Source: Master Stereo (just for the moment, you could set the DI Signal here and such later on...)

Then these signals are fed respectively to Inputs 1-4 in your DAW, IF the Profiler is activated as audio device.

There also is a DAW Volume setting on the bottom right corner (far right soft knob)

    Basics:

    - Change USB Cable, just for the sake of it.

    - IF the Profiler is recognized by the Computer, Profiler is set as the audio device in the Audio Settings? Mac or PC? (reinstall drivers in case)

    - Check the OUTPUT settings, maybe you can describe or display them in a pic.

    Bit more:

When the internal settings correspond to a DAW setup, I would do a reinstall of the Kemper OS and Rig Manager (if you already didn´t)

    Deniztoker

As a first step. keep troubleshooting as simple as possible to figure out a functional signal chain inside the KEMPER without Rig Manager, DAW and Audio Interface. Use Headphones to start out. Do the IN & OUT Indicators flash?

There is a lot going on in the OUTPUT section with a USB connection to a DAW. Have an eye on the operation manual for routing purposes, too. Especially chapters on the OUTPUT section (physical and USB Audio). An example for an error source is to making sure you are not in reamping mode which disconnects the physical Input and such. Any physical output can be fed with any kind of audio sources. Use "Stereo Master" on Main / Monitor and Headphones Outs to get a signal (or its mono variant). Make sure that output levels and its routing or any kind of mutes (i.e. Tuner) in depth can be controlled by you, shooting out one after another...

Upgrading the OS on the unit and using the latest Rig manager version in general is good practice. After upgrading sometimes with digital devices another restart helps.

Our stage monitoring is a point i'm working on 8o X/ . It's a point, our band has to improve

At least everybody is happy, when a Guitar Player really knows a certain reference point to toggle around a bit of course in a live situation. You could say that you get to know your gear over time, sure. As a hired musician I would love to exclude at least the occasional criticism after show game of indifferent gain staging from my side with pointing to respective values on a controller. Even more, when there might(!) be other error sources in the complex scenario of duties in a show setup with often mixed individual staff skills...seen it all in the freelance shark tank.

Purely, a visual control could improve the reliance on a guitar system -> and its operating musician. I personally prefer an overall dynamic floating through an orchestral set rather than accepting fixed volume levels at least by ear leaving a foot on the Vol pedal throughout, sure. You can bring this to a certain mastery and is much appreciated by MDs.

One problem stays in perfectly entering a part with the right initial volume without visual feedback, being a mere master volume approximation.

Color coding the background colour would allow to leave all the written information of the LCD all the time. Say, you could set a tolerance range for your desired volume levels showing a green background color (1-20% or more). For a good initial guitar entrance you have to target a certain range being reflected as a green backlight, otherwise a colour change occurs (over yellow to red), when you would leave that value range above or below. An optional full screen display showing a numeric representation from the pedal setting (% or continous control change typically from 0 to127) for that purpose should be obligatory with a tick box in the SYSTEM settings et al. (being shown for couple of seconds for each pedal move)

BTW: Also imagine footcontroller learning games to get a feel for it - for the fun part of it. Remember the first black and white tennis video game...

I guess there will be ways to morph any kind of volume control to be represented on the two stacked leds at the bottom switches (PROFILER Stage), plus I know that the Profiling process is the heart of it all, but hey... - If there is a bit of time for dedicated expression pedal values onscreen, would be a great detail in many respects in my world! THANK YOU!!

I am using a STAGE, but:

there are many ways to choose different Output sources. Also have a look into the manual: OUTPUT section.

Easiest Fix and shot in the dark from the distance:

In the PROFILER Output section: "Master Stereo" should be routed to the Main Out. If you use a USB connection: These would be recognized by the the first two inputs in the DAW and the full rig should be audible then. The Mac recognizes the Kemper without any further steps.

Make sure that the Profiler is the active Audio device in the audio settings in the DAW...

but maybe you use another audio interface....

-> At least, it is hard to say without more detailed infos (how is the Kemper connected to the MAC, Screenshots if you like, what does your OUTPUT section in the Kemper look like, are appropriate Levels (at least MASTER VOLUME) turned up etc.

drunken german monks in medieval times testing out early brewery experiments seem to have messed it up during copying notes in between: b -> h

    But:

First fret seems hard to get sounding for kind of a pitch. You should touch slightly above first fret to get a 1/16 string relation resulting in a higher octave:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/String_ha…f_Harmonics.svg (klick link for a more detailed graphic on harmonics on the guitar string)

As the note pitch of the harmonic at that spot will have a pretty low level to have to be brought up, noises and sound artefacts are likely to be present also....

weird noises could be the springs in the cavity or loose strings behind the nut.

I guess that the attack noise in relation to a pitched note exceeds here, even more in a high gain setting. I would take out bass frequencies as a first aid step and see what happens, even bring down the gain until the intended or former experienced behaviour occurs...

A compressor with a short attack time and slow release should bring down an initial attack noise, too, while supporting the farther (thus quieter) natural harmonic...
