    Update with RM4.1.20:

In terms of stability it got better. Maybe one crash per hour instead of one every 2min.

I found another strange thing: EQ buttons in 2.0 profiles have now the same range as the gain knob (0-10), whereas old profiles still use the old scheme (- 0 +).

I hope that is Not intentionally?! It implies that it is boost only - which is not the case. Please bring back the known range!

Do you mean EQ as in one of the equalizers, or do you mean the main tone ones? Main tone ones do +/- on Kemper generic and follow the actual amp model on the non-generic ones, including going to 11 (or 12). So that isn't new.

This is my experience as well. There are some good profiles in Rig Exchange, but the ratio of good/excellent to bad/unusable is waaayyyy too low and with 20K+ profiles piled in there, with inconsistent or nonexistent naming and info, it’s an enormous waste of time. I’d rather spend $20 on a Britt or Figg pack that I’m 95+% sure will be excellent and save the time for actually playing.

I wish more people would vote. The ratings would be way more useful.

Pushed this one to RE today

It is similarish to the previous (a few days back) but to me sounding more like the amp. If you're not using cabinet-on kone mode you probably want to detweak the cab is what I am hearing.

Amp: Hiwatt Lead 30 from the early 80's, mostly used with a 1982 Kramer Pacer/Floyd Rose.

to me, it sounds better without the pretty extreme tweaks in the CABINET section ;)

Right well that is one of the great things about Kemper profiles, use what you like and skip the rest. :)

I tweaked those to work with my exact setup which is two Kones, kone mode ON and "cabinet off" disabled. Even if you are using that you may not like it. I was trying to match it to what I hear when playing through this amp.

I do not disagree with this at all. However, everything matters from pickups to strings to volume. I might think something is optimized for stage use (evens out when loud) but someone with brighter pickups might think it sounds find at home too. I tend to gravitate toward hotter single coils, medium P90's, and lower output humbuckers so they all land in a usable range where I don't have to eq the profiles for different guitars, while still having the different sounds of the different pickups. And I do use some of the same profiles for recording that I use live without a ton of tweaking. It's usually just subtle things like reducing low end or highs. I wish there was a way to make them "one size fits all" but sooo many variables.

I like to try my profiles out on guitars with many pickup options like my 513s but then also on a hollowbody and a tele and whatever else is out heh. However I get that you do this for a living so I'm paying attention :)

As for the live vs recording; hopefully the basic accessible controls are enough to bridge the gap. I use my "gig settings" for the amp when I profile them, and if I want to record, I'll go from there.

My problem right now is that my profiles don't sound like the amp, but they are getting closer. I think my biggest gap right now is the microphones I have available, none of which is a 57. I've got vocal mics, some drum mikes, and an SM56.

What I DID learn is to put my combo amps in one of those reflex stands that help with the lack of low end.

Looking forward to more of what other folks are doing, and I have a new Hiwatt to post today :)

This is exactly the problem I’ve been struggling with ever since I got my Kemper. I’m running into it again right now with a few V2 profiles.
At home—where I can’t play too loudly—they sound perfect. But yesterday at band rehearsal, the high frequencies were almost impossible to tame.
Would it perhaps be possible, to specifically label and include a few profiles that are dialed in for live volume levels? That would be an enormous help to me—and presumably to others as well.
Anyway, I'm really looking forward to the new V2 pack.

I'm just curious -- what does your practice rig look like? What output type are you using?

You're doing poweramp to a guitar cab with rig cab module OFF? In theory this should work but if the rigs weren't made through merge process they will have "remnants" of the cab used hanging around. This can have poor results (although sometimes it works out just fine).

There are options, but all of them have consequences. (1) only use rigs made with merge process. There are a lot of them out there. Many of my own rigs are made like this. It's extra work and there are a lot of rigs that are unsuitable. (2) use main out into studio monitors. This works better than I thought it would, but it's main out and you'll be sharing that with the house at gigs. Studio monitors are not gig friendly. (3) use Kone(s) with your power amp and run cabs on with appropriate Kone settings. For me this is the best monitor, and if you don't care for stereo you can use a 1x12 with one Kone in it.

Any rig I select in "Browse" mode has UNDO lit up. If I press the UNDO, the display briefly shows "Morphing". I've looked in rig manager and both UNDO and REDO do not reveal any morphing setting. In fact the only time the UNDO does not turn on is when I move to a rig that already has a morph.

    What gives?

Update: If I press UNDO, in the display I still see favorite flag (*), but no E for edited. At this point REDO is lit up. If I press REDO, it now shows E (edited). Originally, before I press UNDO or REDO (immediately after selecting a new rig), there is no E.

To recap - use browser "browse" wheel to select a new rig. When the rig autoloads "UNDO" is lit. There is no E where the EDIT field is all the way to the right on the rack display screen (next to owner name). Press UNDO. Nothing happens except that "Morphing" displays briefly. There are no morphs showing in RM either before or after pressing UNDO. Now REDO is lit. I press REDO. No morphs showing in RM still. But the "E" shows up on the display near the owner name.

Software version is latest, RM 4.1.17, OS 14.1.0.65901.

Ok we got new upgrade, this time we got back to beta version. Is that it?

I thought the official release was already out, maybe it was a kind of a dream...for me that's ok, it's perfect, kemper is still a great unit, every company has their flaws and issues, if they solve the issue for the customers it's good enough.

    ❤️❤️

Any release can have a beta version; that's how software releases work (in general, not just here). You can opt out by unchecking beta releases in RM.

My two cents here on the pickups; I like the custombuckers and they aren't too bright for me but if you find them too bright you can swap out your 500k tone pots for something a little darker, say 300k. I have used everything from bluesbucker and air norton all the way to quad rails. I like a little variety and you defnitely have to match the pickups to the guitar and your rigs. It's a blast when you try something new and it's like "hey this tone reminds me of "Traveling Wilburys" or whatever.
