I'm not sure if it's the language barrier, but this reads that after updating, you are currently on version 7.3.2?

The latest official version is 12.1.2.

You can download version 12.1.2 from the "Download" section of the Kemper website, and it is safe to updare to this version directly from version 7.3.2.

Please update to the latest version of the OS and Rig manager, then write here if you still have the same problem.

    I hope this helps. 🙂

    Hi all,

I might be going nuts here but updated my Stage to latest OS recently.

Output is liked to Monitor only and when I rotate the volume knob the value changes correctly however the ring of LEDs around the knob doesn't change - all LEDs remain on irrespective of monitor output level.

Am I doing something stupid or do these LEDs only represent main output levels?

    Si

The LED ring around the big volume knob is tied to the main output volume, regardless of what is or is not linked to the knob.

I discovered this myself a couple of months ago when trying a new setup and like you, was disappointed, but it does kinda make sense if you think about it... Headphones, monitor out and main out, all linked to the knob could all have different levels set... there has to be a constant I guess?? ... So I just assumed that's how it was intended to be??

I assume you tried changing the fuse in the plug? ... tried a different wall outlet? Tried a different power cable? (Assuming you have one)

If so and none of the above fixed it, unfortunately I think it will need Kemper to bring it back to life.

I'm in the Uk and last year, we had a negative pulse caused by a fault at the power station, come down the supply cable, knock out 88 houses power in the area, and kill multiple electrical items. Some items were unaffected, others needed to be taken away by the electricity supplier, repaired and returned a couple of days later.

If it was an area wide power outage, you could try contacting the electricity supplier for a free repair, but honestly, given the nature of the Kemper, I would be more confident letting those who know it inside out take care of it.

I am having great difficulty storing performances and moving around performances to other buttons in the performance.
I create a separate tone with buttons 1-5 lower row. Want to move button 3 to top row of 1. Is this doable?

Sorry, NOT Doable... the bottom row is for changing rigs within a performance (your tones, as you put it) ... the top row is for switching effects on or off within each of the 5 "tones" while they are selected. This top and bottom row core functions cannot be changed.

I foolishly updated my kemper to this release and so far, I've had about 3-4 disconnections from a remote that has been stable for years and years. This was on the first boot probably out of the update. When I tried to power the kemper down, it flat out crashed rather than shutting down so I think the kemper itself was the unhappy bit.

It seems to be okay after rebooting.

This is not the first time I've updated my kemper and regretted disturbing the equilibrium. I'm a firmware engineer myself so I know how much that'll sting to hear that, but that's my experience.

"Stable for years and years"?? ... Which version did you update from? (If the OS you were on was lower than 7.3, you would need to contact support for an update to 7.3 first. (You can't go directly to the newer versions from the very old ones. It must be done in 2 steps).

If it was me, I'd completely uninstall Rig Manager via the windows control panel, then search your system via the search box for Rig Manager (to make sure you don't have more than one version installed somehow!) ... make sure all shortcuts for Rig Manager are deleted from your desktop, then download and install the latest Rig Manager from scratch (no running as administrator and no other changes to the standard install process).

I use Windows 11 on a PC I built myself and can confirm Rig Manager works perfectly with it this way.

    Hi Mick,

Thansk for the reply and I've done just that and got myself back into an ok place. To be honest I'd never given much thought to the Outputs and when i relaised i'd lost the settings and the new ones sounded terrible I think i panicked a bit and went down a Tone rabbit hole.

The good news is that I've that I've learnt a lot and have a much better understanding of EQ and how to set things up.

I did have a back up but wasn't sure if I could just update the global settings with updating all of my profiles?

Thansk for the reply - much appreciated

Glad it's sorted 😊 ... as far as I'm aware, you can't restore the global settings on their own from a backup, but you can save the output section as a preset (open the output section as if you're going to change something, then press store... you'll see you have the option to save just the output section or the entire rig/performance)... This way, if you want to mess with it again for any reason, you are free to do so, and can simply reload the preset to return to where you are now.

Thank you for the help. Have done this but unsure of where to re-set everything - can somebody screen shot their output settings as think this would be a good place to start?

With respect, "a good place to start" is from the advice Bayou Texan gave above... this resets all global settings to what they were when your Kemper left the factory (so if you never changed them before this Youtube video, then back to where you were).

My output section would probably be completely wrong for you, because it's set for my particular gear, with my particular levels for recording to an interface or playing direct through studio monitors.... someone else's may be set for playing through an actual amp or an FRFR speaker. Then there's settings for ground lifts and Usb audio etc which you may or may not want...

The factory state is the only place to begin UNLESS you had the sense to perform a backup of your settings before updating recently?? ... If you do have a backup on a usb stick you could simply use that to get back to where you were before. 👍

Apologies, and thank you for the polite correction. I'll try to refrain from guessing in the future. 😊👍

    Hi,

Yesterday I decided to move my mains cable for my KPA head from one power outlet to another, forgetting it was already powered up. After that my KPA is now totally dead. ;(

I then of course double checked that the cable was OK and the outlet was working. but no luck...

I have mailed support, but in the meantime is there something I can do? Is there a fuse that might blown or something easy to replace?

Very weird.... I've done this many times with my stage and never had an issue... it's no different to having a power outage while you're playing, so I can't see that unplugging it while it's on would be the cause...

Not sure if it will fix it or not, but I know with PCs it can cause them to refuse to fire up if the internal battery dies.... There's a watch type battery on the PCB inside the Kemper which allows it to retain settings when there's no power (the same as a PC) ... if I had to guess, I'd say the battery died, and when you pulled the plug from the socket, the Kemper had a hissy fit... You could try replacing the battery (it should just slide out from under its little retaining clip... no technical skill required and a supermarket will probably have the correct replacement).

I'll point out that I'm not an expert and am only guessing from experience with PCs, so this is not guaranteed to fix it, but it won't do any harm to try it.

Hope you get it sorted. 👍

On my computer, there’s only one option called ASIO.

My apologies, you are correct, Native ASIO and USB (Class Compliant) .... I'm sure both were originally marked as ASIO?? Maybe they changed it, or maybe I spent so long messing with it that my brain is just mashed!! Lol ... I also just noticed your earlier screen shot showing it, so no excuse anyway I guess!! 🙄

FWIW, I'm on Windows 11 now with various Audio gear and crap on my PC and was updated fully on Windows 10 before switching. Nothing broke at all while I was on Windows 10, and the only issue I've had on 11 is with the Kemper driver and that was NOT caused by Windows... I'd imagine that Kemper support won't be able to help if your system is too far out of date, and you refuse to update, as this could well be the cause. You only other option would be to do as I did and buy a dedicated audio interface and as you said, live without the Kemper driver. I did eventually get the Kemper driver to work half reasonably, but in honesty, I've found my current setup without it to be far superior... I hope you figure it out. 🙂

The ASIO driver is not loading on Windows 10 (Rig Manager 3.8.6, the latest official Kemper drivers, audio mode ASIO, Player LVL II/III, Reaper). All other ASIO drivers are functioning normally.

Two things to check if you have not already done so:

    1. You said "Audio mode ASIO" ... both modes are called Asio... one is Class Compliant, the other is Native. You need to select the Native Asio driver if not already done...

    If still not working:

    2. In windows file explorer, go to "local disk (C:), "program files", "Reaper (x64)... RIGHT click on reaper application. Click "Properties" , "Compatibility" ... In the lower half of the list shown, you will see a tick box for "Run this program as an administrator". If this box is checked, uncheck it. The driver should now run.

If still no joy, I would try uninstalling and reinstalling Rig Manager (which will reinstall the asio driver) or try a different Daw (free trial, any Daw) to confirm whether the driver or the Daw is the issue.

My problem is the following: Windows 10 won't recognize my PROFILER Player as an audio interface, so I'm not able to use the unit as Windows' standard output for sound. All drivers are installed correctly (at least I hope so) and the Player is correctly listed in the device manager. On the one hand, REAPER does recognize the ASIO driver and I can use the Player as I/O , which is why I'm not sure if Windows is the problem, but on the other hand, Windows perfectly uses my M-AUDIO M-TRACK SOLO as I/O. I don't see why Windows shouldn't be able to use the PROFILER just like the M-AUDIO. If anyone knows how to solve my problem, I would be glad to hear. Thanks in advance.

Kemper Audio driver is made of two parts. Only one part will work at a time.

In Rig Manager, click on "profiler" in the bar at the top of the screen, then click "Audio Mode"...

Here you can choose which driver to use. (Click, then wait for your settings to show again before closing).

NATIVE ASIO DRIVER: (which it seems you are using now) is a full ASIO driver and can only be used by one DAW application at a time. All other sounds (youtube for example are blocked).

CLASS COMPLIANT DRIVER: This one will allow all sounds from various sources, but will result in higher latency, so is not suitable for playing guitar in most cases.

    I hope this helps.

Same behaviour on my desktop. Windows 11, i7 6700k, Asus z170 pro gaming, 32GB ram. I'm sure at one point it worked as I remember testing it.

It sounds like you are using the class compliant driver? If I remember correctly, it will work with Reaper like this, but you must set Kemper as your sound device in the Windows sound settings (access by right clicking the speaker icon in your system tray) before opening Reaper. However, I found the latency made the class compliant driver unusable...

Instead: (in this order) open Rig Manager. Click the "Profiler" tab at the top, click Audio Mode and select "Native Audio (ASIO)" ... wait for Rig Manager to finish refreshing the view, then you can close it. Now open Reaper and select Kemper Asio (This is the full ASIO driver. No other system sounds are possible while this mode is activated, but the Latency should improve and you should be able to see your routing options for Kemper in Reaper now).

To listen to Media player, Youtube etc, you will have to close Reaper, open Rig manager and switch the Native Asio option back to "Class Compliant".

    I hope this helps. 👍

In my case (I opened this thread), I was ready to sell my Kemper Stage over this,, but I eventually "solved" the issue myself... I found Kemper support to be difficult to deal with and they basically had me download a few free DAWs, some of which allowed the ASIO driver to load, but work very poorly, some of which displayed the same behaviour as my DAW (Cubase).... They asked for details of my DAW, including the exact version number which delayed the process for a day because I wasn't with the machine. I supplied all the information and was informed that they had tested it on their machine with my DAW and it worked, so they blamed "something at my end" ... it later turned out that they were testing on a completely different version (I was on 12, they were testing on 13) yet still they blamed "something at my end" but offered no constructive advice on what it could be or how to diagnose it.

To shorten the story, my later discovery was that the issue which I described in my first post occurs with any DAW which is set to "run as administrator" but I have used several ASIO drivers over many years and none of them have had an issue with this (including Line 6 Helix drivers) so I still say this is an issue with the driver.

Once it was working, I found the driver to work poorly, with the buffer size unable to be changed and the fact that with Cubase, you must use the Native Asio option, which means the Kemper/DAW and other sounds such as Youtube cannot coexist, and require switching via Rig Manager every time I want to use one or the other.

After weighing up the idea of selling it and moving on to something else, I decided that the only alternative which sounds as good would be QC, but it lacks foot switches in comparison to the Stage and its power supply and size makes it resemble a toy in my mind, so I ended up buying an Audient ID14 interface, a headphone splitter box and a Mackie Big Knob, just to get the functionality which the Asio driver should have provided. I'm totally happy with the result, but not happy about the time and extra money it took to get there.

Thanks to everyone who tried to help here along the way. 🤘

Not sure if this is your issue, but have you tried turning the clean compensation to zero in the amp settings? ... I'm only guessing, but if clean compensation is turned up, Kemper messes with the volume... The fact it does it when bypassed is weird, but perhaps it's something to do with the circuit of the pedal and the way kemper sees it? ... Gotta be worth a try for the sake of turning a knob! 😊
