Depends on the profile of course but I've noticed that bumping the gain adds undesirable fizziness to tones rather than what I would have expected on my tube amps of the past (Dr Z, Marshall, HiWatt, Fender, others). Then I noticed in a couple of "Tips" lists from what seem like knowledgeable Kemper-world sources that this was discouraged in favor of just finding a higher-gain profile or using OD pedal presets.
Have you tried with liquid profiles?

Using a DCX Boost sometimes, it sounds great. Don't have to, but it's nice to have options .

I have my Stage mounted on a Duo 24 together with the exp. Pedal. I/O module on 1 side and IEC one on the other one. The board was about 130 bucks, plus the modules and the bag. worth every penny

Drives are modeled, not profiled. The "pedals" you find under K-Drive are just presets. Have you tried modifying those settings? I can get pretty much any OD sound out of it.

Correct but you can adjust the gain (distortion sense) sensitivity. On the other hand you can adjust and save the Output EQ to accommodate for a Profile made with HB that gets overly bright when played with a Tele
Yes, you can. Save the presets from the Input Menu and lock the Input to make it global. BTW, you can do the same with the Output block
