Which tablet?

    Hi everyone,

    I need advice on which tablet to use on stage with the Player. I'm looking for a tablet with an anti glare screen for outdoors use. After some research I came across The Mate pad Huawei tablet which has a mate screen contrary to many other tablets but of course Huawei doesn't offer the Google services. Is there a way round it, is it still an option? (Expensive tablets aren't an option unfortunately). Do you have any recommendations?

    One way or another, you need access to the Google Play Store or an iOS device for the App Store. There really is no other way to do it unless you want to bring your laptop with and use that.

    I've only used an iPad with the Player which most of the time worked fine. Unfortunately, tablet prices are just going up thanks to RAM shortages and tariffs.

    I can't recommend a specific tablet, but just as a tip — you don't necessarily need one. I use an old phone with Rig Manager and it works fine for what I need on stage. It's small, lightweight, and I didn't have to spend anything extra.

    If you do go with a tablet, I'd avoid Huawei without Google Play — sideloading Rig Manager might work initially, but you'd miss out on automatic updates, which can matter when new firmware versions require a matching RM version.
