Heatwave and sunshine protection tip

    Having played this gig in previous years i had a plan for this year's UK heatwave. The stage is in direct sunshine all afternoon and equipment will get roasted.

    Top tip- one of those foil laminated foam sheets that can be used in car-windscreens or behind house-hold radiators to reflect heat. (a fiver off of ebay)

    Setup and sound-check started early afternoon and the gear was exposed to the sun and heat for several hours and would have crucified anything, including the musicians.

    Who has experienced similar or has ideas/tips to share?

    I live in Texas. Normal temps in summer is like 100* in the shade (106* expected next week). You couldn't pay me enough to perform outside!

    At Slateboy: Soundcheck is in the afternoon and then you play in the evening? For how long? I would disconnect the Stage from the cables, leave the cables where they are, store the Stage at the back of the stage where there is shadow... and befor the gig reconnect it all.

    thats a good tactic. Soundcheck and setup early afternoon then show at 8pm. sun went behind a hill and trees around 9pm.

    the time constraints made this not an option, especially for the drum kit. The sun-shield proved to be the ideal solution.

    On the flip-side, similar solutions sought for those wet-gigs where the UK rain gets in more places than the sunshine.
