Profiler as audio interface issues

Im using a MK1 unpowered profiler head. previously Ive been using a separate audio interface connected via spdif into reaper.

Ive switched to using the kemper as the audio interface and Im having a couple of issues, not sure if Im doing something wrong.

Firstly, It sounds way better just connected to rig manager, when Im connect to reaper it sounds like there's a load of reverb, its not terrible but definitely different than just via rig manager.

secondly, I cant lower the volume of the guitar via reaper or monitor any VST effect I might add, like an EQ. Its there on playback if I record but not live as Im playing. Its like I cant affect the sound going in at all via reaper so if I add some EQ I cant hear it unless I record and play it back.

anyone have any ideas?

just in case anyone else is as daft as me, on the reaper track remember to have 'monitoring off' and enjoy your proper tones
