Marco Marchionni ("MM") Kemper Profiles

    Hi,

    I recently stumbled upon Marco Marchionni's Kemper Profile page. He's quite a decent player and his sound samples sound phenomenal, his demo pack also offers very nice sounds. I couln't find a single word about him in the Kemper forums, though! Has anyone got experience with some of his packs? I won't type the worth it question, but: are they worth it? How do they compare to the obvious alternatives like TJ, MB, BM, MF etc.? Thanks in advance and have a good day everyone!

    I bought Marco's complete package a while ago when it was on sale. I quite like these profiles and would say they compare favorably to, let's say, Guidorist's offerings. Like Guido's, they sound a bit more rough to me than the rather smooth and polished profiles from Bert, for instance, which I also love for what they are. Great we still have all these options around, eh? ;)

    You may come across 3rd party profilers who are here just to post what they have to sell and not partake in the full Kemper experience that most of us do. That may be why you don't get much info about them.There are a vast amount of free profiles on Rig Exchange and in the Kemper Rig packs that you may find is all you need. It's all I need.

    Thanks for your reply! I'm playing in a Top40 cover-/wedding band and looking for some polished-live-rock sound. For all the other stuff, I use MBritt and am very satisfied with those, but I think he lacks some modern "polished" sounds. Concerning MM Profiles, there is something to his sound (cabs?) that speaks to me in the free pack and on rig exchange. I like his BadCat and the Marshalls sound great, too. The free Mesa and Bogner rigs have too much gain for my usecase, but I'm curious about their mid gain rigs.


    Would you say that his packs are usable in a live scenario? Do they have effects in them (and on the footswitches)? It surprises me that you describe them as "rough" because I would argue that his free packs sound rather "modern" than "rough" to my ears. May I ask what your usecase is and which of his packs you like the most? Thanks in advance!

    yes I think his packs are very usable for live scenarios. They do have some useful effects added (often deactivated by default though), but you have to assign the footswitches yourself. Some few of his packs have nice performances added (for instance, his 65 Fender Deluxe, his 69 JMP, his Ecstasy, JTM, Orange RV, ProSonic, Shiva).

    Some of my fave packs of his (though difficult to choose from about 2200 rigs) are:

    Purplex

    Two Rock Studio Signature

    Mesa Mark IV

    PS: If you are looking for more modern, slick bread and butter sounds, you can't go wrong with Bert Meulendijk (he's playing live a lot), Mattfig and the likes either. Or even Dillrigs.

    I just scrolled through his latest packs. His newest 8 packs are 2.0, then there is one "old tech" pack followed by 3 more 2.0 packs. That makes 11 packs in total if I didnt miss any.


    Thats correct, he left the old ones in the pack and added some 2.0 captures in the 2.0 packs. They are free of charge for everyone who purchased the 1.0 packs. For instance, the JCM800 pack has 21 additional 2.0 profiles in it.
