Rig Manager is messing with Rig names and Rig settings

  • The Profiler Model referred to in this thread is ...
    ☑️ Profiler Stage

I have encountered serious problems with the rig manager, version 4.1.20 (also on previous versions). The Stage is updatetd to the latest version.

When I change the bank, all rigs are displayed with names of the former bank in the rig manager only. In the Stage it looks fine. The name and settings will be actualized as soon as I activate a rig. Sometimes, the profiler is storing a previous used rig in the afterwards selected rig without any action from my side. I can’t be sure anymore, the settings are saved in the way I intended, it has become a lottery. This makes the rig manager quite unusable and I‘m tired to get messed with that all.

I also tried by the way to delete the whole windows directories to force a new build of the databases. As I am here with that problem, you can think it was not successful.

Any hints, what I can do to stay further with Kemper?

  • I'm on Mac, KPP.
Switching is ok but you've described my experience when you start renaming it's starting to be messy and redraw several times. Not all rigs but just the changes. And, exactly as you've described - I'm never sure if the currently displayed values are correct.

The only workaround I've found is close and reopen RM. It looks like on the device it's ok and just reading is ok. And yes, it's annoying.

Changed the title of the thread from “Rig Manager is messing with rig names and rig settings” to “Rig Manager is messing with Rig names and Rig settings”.
  • A bug is a bug and might happen, but such an issue is embarassing

Here is the answer from Kemper:

This is a known software bug in Rig Manager 4.1.2

The development is currently working on these issues.

If you need a running system, I recommend using the previous Rig manager in combination with the previous Profiler operating system, both available as a download on our website.

    Downloads | Kemper Amps

OS 13.0.5 and Rig Manager 3.10.13

    Sincerely

Same here with the player. I had it three times that especially my first rig was overwritten by another rig. I was asked to make a video. But how can I make a video when it happens randomly. Not by chance. Hopefully this issue will be solved soon.

  • I have seen behavior like this but for me it was a display anomaly. When it happens that I see a rig name that should not be there, I close RM and start it again and all is well. IDK if that will help in every case, but so far it has been working for me.

update: Actually I just noticed this post is for stage and I am using rack; so maybe the behavior is different.

  • I just made a similar post, because i had not seen yours.

I had this problems several times (PowerHead). However, i had this happen with older versions of ProfilerOS and Rig Manager as well! I am pretty sure that i have been running into this problem for quite some years now.

  • Same problem

    Please update Kemper Rig Manager.

    • With the latest version 4.1.20 Win11, there are issues with presets, performances that no longer find the correct parameters, and settings that no longer save properly. It's impossible to work professionally.

So I no longer use Rig Manager; I edit directly on Stage V2, and everything is fine that way, but for performances, it's long and tedious. When I browse the forum, there are numerous examples of malfunctions. I think the errors are mainly due to Rig Manager.

I've been a Kemper user since 2013; I know it well!
Thank you for this new update which will fix the problems and restore my confidence.

  • I wonder why Kemper still wants to update the devices with that faulty version, especially that they know well about the errors. Also no information to the users about that major problem and let people update the devices with that messy software. Are they having a serious management problem as well?

  • about Sync..

I also had an issue where synchronization between Kemper Player and Rig Manager was completely non-existent. Both were the latest versions. Just in case, I deleted all very old presets (Delay, Reverb, Effects, Stomp, etc., probably from 2013–2014) from Rig Manager, and now synchronization is working perfectly.

  • The whole thing gets even worse if you have a stage and a player connected to the rig manager simultaneously. According to Kemper, this should work, but in reality, it leads to even greater chaos.

Unlikely, like support already told you. But if you can replicate you findings, please send them in and we will have a look.

How could I do that? I did already all I can do! I don‘t feel you are taking me right. What exactly are you expecting further more? I have currently a system, which is unstable with three Stage and one Player, full updated, using the rig manager and you tell me to explain my problem further more? Please! There are other customers reporting the same problems.
My first step is to switch all my bass rigs away from kemper which is in progress. The guitar rigs might follow. Sorry Kemper Staff, this is not good enough. I don‘t believe you are on a customer friendly way. I understand, software might have problems. That is not a problem. The problem is the way Kemper is handling it. Please tell me a way, how to use all devices without messing the rigs when connected to the rig manager. Thank you.
