Disappointed with the new update

  • The Profiler Model referred to in this thread is ...
    ☑️ Profiler Player

Am I the only one disappointed with the new update? I'm not talking about the 2.0 profiles and resonance controls, those are honestly amazing, but about the "overall update" itself.

I am sad to open this thread, but I have been waiting for almost one year while reading comments like "Kemper, take your time and do things right", "we know that when it's out, it will be good", etc. Now, three weeks after the Official Release, I still can't record or use Guitar Pro (part of my daily practice routine) because of ASIO and Generic Driver issues.

I feel this is unprofessional and I think is a bit disrespectful toward people who use the device for professional purposes. Up to now, I feel this has been a downgrade instead of an upgrade.

Furthermore, I’m really frustrated with always having to wait for features that should already work. For example I'll never forget when I bought the Player at release because the manual described the combo buttons, and I was honestly shocked when I later discovered they still weren’t implemented, and that I had to wait eight months for them.

I am sorry, but I had to take out this frustration.

  • Kemper is working hard on getting OS 14 to the "release" stage, but I'm sure they understand they aren't quite there yet.

IMHO, it would help both Kemper and customers if Kemper called this KAOS version a beta. That would adjust people's expectations to match what they are getting with this version. By calling it a "release" I think Kemper is unnecessarily disappointing many customers.

  • One thing I learned about Software is that there is never a Final Release. So, as long as Kemper keeps updating on a regular basis (which they have been doing since I bought mine 4-5 years ago) then I am completely satisfied with that.

Larry Mar @ Lonegun Studios. Neither one famous yet.

It's never "done", but when you have a serious bug like ASIO compatibility which used to work in version 13, that means it's not ready to be called a production release IMHO. It takes time to work out the showstopper bugs, but calling it a beta until you do will help avoid customer disappointment.

I feel strongly something changed with Kemper between Liquid Profiling and the Player release. Doesn't seem like the same company to me as a customer.

To answer your question - most software gets released with bugs. I work in IT and I wait always for the first service pack of whatever software it is to do an upgrade.

I would agree there's more issues than normal right now. I went back to the old software for rig manager and my Stage because the issues were out of control.

  • I am also in IT, and I don't fly off the handle when an update has issues. I usually just post my findings, trying to be as descriptive as possible to help the developer isolate the issue in the code.

Overall, bugs happen. There are things you can do to minimize bugs, but there is no magic wand that you can wave and the software will be bug free.

With that said, I have reverted back to OS13 because of the issues with the beta. I might be in the minority, but I felt that there was a change in classic profiles. Being that I have well over 1000 classic profiles, I won't be updating until I read that classic profiles sound like they always have.

Nobody expects perfection, and the amount of progress Kemper has made in OS14 is impressive. The bug details were already reported in the previous beta, so Kemper is aware of it and probably actively working on it.

I'm just sharing a suggestion that if they call this version a public beta, it might help placate the OP and others like him who have expressed disappointment when they found a bug with a severity that one wouldn't normally expect to see in a production release.

  • I have a Mark I toaster. I am very pleased with the new update. One of my biggest peeves with the unit was Rig Manager often not connecting to the Profiler when opened. This problem has totally disappeared. I also love the new features and layout in Rig Manager.

    Thanks Kemper

    Ralph

  • I am very disappointed. The new update killed my Kemper Profiler. When I turned it on, it keeps looping on the startup screen and it says "NO RESOURCE DATA." Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks!

Have you tried doing a factory reset ?

« To factory reset a Kemper Profiler, power it on while holding the Soft Button 1 (top left above the display) to enter System Maintenance, then select "Recovery"and "Init&Factory Content". Warning: This erases all user data, rigs, and settings. For the Stage, hold Soft Button 1 and the SYSTEM button together. »

AleFretMaster What do you exactly mean be "record or use Guitar Pro".

I'm using Guitar Pro as part of my daily routine as you. In the latest releases it's getting better. One thing which I found is I have to enable profiler first, before Guitar Pro. Otherwise there are some drivers issues.

  • Hi Radek01, thank you for your answer and your tip, I really appreciate it.

Since latest OS (Beta AND release) I receive this error with every audio settings: "Error - Audio device is not available"

(Screenshot above is from Guitar Pro, but the behavior is same as Cubase)

While if I connect the Player after Guitar pro opens, as soon as I press on play the program crash. And unfortunately, I get exactly the same behavior with or without Rig Manager running. What improved a little bit in the released version is Bluetooth, before the Player was always crashing, now it seems more stable.

During the Beta release I did some back and forth between the old OS and the beta, and with the old OS everything was working properly every time. Therefore I think I can exclude that is my cable, the usb, the pc, or whatever.

Furthermore, I contacted Kemper support during the beta and after the release, and..

"... The current version of the driver does not allow using the Profiler as an audio interface while Rig Manager is running at the same time...
...If you need the Profiler in a professional scenario please reinstall the release version since beta versions should only be used for testing purposes."

almost one month after official OS release the problem still persist. This is why I feel disappointed.

So said.. I know that sooner or later they will patch it, and the only thing I can do is to wait for it (or revert to the previous revision and renounce to 2.0 profiles). But I think is correct to let them know that this cause frustration and a customer can feel disappointed.

Gosh. At least they admitted it.

Which OS? I'm on Mac. The release version is working fine, I haven't seen any issues as with previous version. But I've learned to open Guitar Pro after connecting my KPP.

I tried your failing scenario but I'm a lucky one it's working on my machine.

I'm assuming you're running the latest versions. Based on information given by you it looks like OS/drivers issues. Not only Guitar Pro, but also Cubase. Have you tried to reinstall them? And maybe consider some deeper cleanup as you've mentioned installing beta there and back.
