Your Profiler requires an update

  • The Profiler Model referred to in this thread is ...
    ☑️ Profiler Head/Rack

This has probably been covered but here goes: Started up rig manager (4.0.61) and I get the message "your profiler requires an update. The current software is too old for rig manager to connect. Please update your profiler OS to version 12.1 or higher etc"

The profiler was at version 11 something, so I duly logged in and put the latest version (14) on a stick and updated the profiler as per instruction. That seemed to go OK and the profiler displays the updated OS. Thing is rig manager still says the same thing even though its been updated.

I have tried changing USB port, reinstalling rig manager, clean out of cache. Wanted to soft reset the profiler but it isn't playing ball.

    Anything I should be doing?

    many thanks

  • Hi Kormaboy , welcome to the forum!

Did you try to let the Rig Manager do the update job? It does not necessarily require the update via usb stick. So go to the Rig Manager menu under "Help / Check for Software Updates" and follow the instructions...

    Does that work better?

Changed the title of the thread from “Your profiler requires an update” to “Your Profiler requires an update”.
  • UPDATE~ this seems to have resolved itself. Steps taken:

    - Uninstalled Rig Manager 4.0.61
    - Factory reset Kemper Amp
    - Reinstalled Rig Manager

This seems to have fixed the issue and my Kemper is now connecting correctly.

    ========================================================

I have the same issue - Rig Manager 4.0.61 and have just updated my Kemper power head to 14.0.3.65241 via USB. Checked the OS version in the System settings and it's reporting the latest OS is installed.

Upgrade went seamlessly but Rig manager still says "Your PROFILER requires an update. The current software is too old for Rig Manager to connect. Please update your PROFILER OS to version 12.1 or higher using a USB stick. You can find further details in the manual."

If OP has same issue Rig Manager doesn't allow you to do anything with the PROFILER from the menu. If you select Help -> Check for Software Updates it just says "This software is up-to-date."

  • I have the same problem. I installed "Rig_Manager_4_0_61_Windows 64-bit.msi" and then upgraded from OS 12.0 to OS 14.0.3.65241 via USB. Now Rig Manager reports that the Profiler firmware is not new enough to communicate.

I don't really want to mess around with randomly reinstalling firmware (inherently risky) or doing factory resets, so I guess I'll wait for a fixed Rig Manager to be released.

  • Same problem here, profiler update via USB (from 13 to 14.0.3.65241) and RigManager (Windows) update from 3 to 4.0.61. Get the same message in RM "your profiler requires an update...." Reboot profiler, reboot Windows, uninstall and reinstall RM, selecting other USB port doesn't help. I don't want to reset profiler like Threadnaught pointed out. Couldn't find how to force profiler update in RM.

  • As a work around you can stop rig manager from looking for updates in preferences

That's unfortunately a completely wrong advice. This issue is related to something entirely different.

  • Same problem here: Profiler is on 14.0.3.65241, Rig Manager is on 4.0.61

Rig Manager complains that "Profiler requires an update. ....Please update profiler OS to version 12.1..."

Already uninstalled and reinstalled RM. Another 1.5 hrs of my life I'm not getting back.

  • I have current OS 14.0.3 and RM 4.0.61. Yesterday I started the Kemper first as usual and then loaded RM secondly. RM displayed the message that my Profiler needed Updating which I knew was incorrect. I simply closed RM and restarted again. Then RM began synching up and loaded properly.

Today, I did the same process and RM went straight to syncing and loaded properly.

The slow syncing on startup seems to be the problem. I don't recall RM taking so long to load up before the OS 14 update. It used to be very fast where I never even noticed.

I'm in the US in case its a Server problem.

    EDIT:

I tried shutting down RM and restarting again. The syncing began again and takes some time. This is not how RM was behaving before the OS14 update.

In the past, sometimes I would accidentally close RM instead of another app I wanted closed. When I restarted RM it loaded up almost instantaneously. That's not happening now. It takes much longer.

  • Just to confirm:

1 - 4.0.61 splash screen is extremely slow at startup (~40 seconds)

2 - RM states Profiler needs software update (I'm positive RM and Kemper are latest versions)

3 - Connecting to WWW and allowing RM to check for update yields "All software up to date."

    4 - Win10 is > 1703

I've restarted Kemper and Laptop multiple times with no change. I'd rather not uninstall the programs on my performance laptop and screw other programs up. As someone previously stated, I don't want to lose two hours of my life dealing with this Kemper error. Hopefully, Kemper can fix without total uninstall/install.

5PIN DIN Midi is still functional. Issue is USB and Rig Manager with latest updates.

Update: After reading in the forum about several issues with latest updates, the Kemper and RM were reverted to the September 2025 versions and all is working. I'll give it another go when Kemper figures out what is going on.

  • I was able to fix this on Win 11 by uninstalling rig manager 4.0.61 and installing the previous version, connecting the Profiler with 14.0.3 OS via usb and starting Rig Manager. It prompts you to update Rig Manager and if you do it there instead of downloading the update from Kemper website it works

  • same problem here. I uninstalled and reinstalled it, but the problem persists. As soon as I open Rig Manager, it says I need to update the profiler. Even though I'm connected to the internet, and try the update and it says the software is up-to-date. I tried updating the profiler via USB, and it's the latest version, but the problem remains.

  • Also having the same issue.

Attempted all fixes mentioned here, no dice. Uninstalled all registries and any remaining files, issue still persists.

My laptop RM works with current version, but my main recording PC gets the error.

I do have a theory. for those with the issues, is your USB cable going into a usb 3.0 port?

  • Laptop to docking station is USB3. Dock to hub is USB3. Hub them goes to Kemper. This arrangement has been rock solid for years with the same arrangement and continues to work with the reverted RM and OS. New RM and OS will not work. RM says "need to update."

  • I updated the firmware this morning with Rig Manager and I too received Rig Manager complains that "Profiler requires an update. ....Please update profiler OS to version 12.1...". This is definitely a bug with Rig Manager; something left over in the uninstall or registry because I installed RM on my laptop and it worked perfectly. I would hope with many have the same issue that support will fix this bug.

I deleted the Kemper folder in the C:/users/ app data directory that didn't help, nor deleting anything referencing RM in the registry. Contacted support. My laptop never had RM installed on it and worked fine.

    ------------------------UPDATE---------------------------

I was contacted by support and sent Kemper some diagnostic files, receive a reply minutes later with a fix to remove all the Kemper drivers on my PC, ran the fix it found 9 older drivers. Rebooted, installed RM and worked like a charm. Kemper is one special company that ensures its users are taken care of.

  • Hey rreda,

I have tried to remove all the drivers I find in my Device Manager (under sound -> profiler), but it didn't work. Do you mind sharing the exact procedure that they shared with you ? thanks a lot !
