Morningstar MC6Pro Player Tap Tempo issue - Solved

  • Hi everyone,

I’m trying to control Tap Tempo on a Kemper Profiler Player via MIDI using a Morningstar MC6 Pro.

    Current setup (working)

    • Kemper Player Pedal Input: expression pedal for Volume (works)
    • MC6 Pro Omniport 1: expression pedal configured as Expression, sending MIDI CC#1 (Wah Pedal) on every preset (works)
    • Tap Tempo on the Player’s own TAP button works

    What I want

Use an external TRS momentary footswitch connected to the MC6 Pro (Omniport 4 / AUX) to trigger Tap Tempo on the Kemper Player via MIDI DIN.

Kemper is set to MIDI In Channel = OMNI.
According to the Kemper MIDI docs, Tap Tempo is CC#30 (press = value 1, release = value 0; if only one event is possible, send value 0).

    Problem

I can’t get Tap Tempo to work correctly/reliably from the TRS AUX switch via the MC6 Pro.

    Questions

    1. What’s the correct way on MC6 Pro to map Omniport AUX Tip/Ring to send CC#30 to the Player?
    2. Any known gotchas (AUX polarity, Tip vs Ring mapping, press/release settings, message type) to make this work?
    3. Is it better to send value 0 only (instead of 1/0) to avoid accidental Beat Scanner behaviour?

    Extra: MC6 Pro firmware/editor version: 3.13.6 ; Player firmware version 14.0.3

    Thanks a lot!
