On the last few tracks I've recorded, I place the Pure Booster after the stack and have it set at +1.6. My tones seem to be really jumping out in the mix, and I am now doing this on every profile. I like it! Does doing this over raising the rig volume allow more clean character to come through?
Been doing this for years. For some reason the profile just comes to life.
I don't know if it's about the ''clean character'' but the Pure Boost Is Really great! Really plug and play, Simple and Efficent!

This does nothing to the tone, it just raises the volume. Same effect as Rig Volume.

I don't agree: IMHO the sound is more airy and slightly fatter with the Pure Boost after stack

try putting a flat eq with +1db volume and a Pure Boost with +1db after the stack, alternate them: for me they sound slightly different

Some effects, even when turned off, do affect the signal. I tried to use the Pure Booster for a DB boost when playing leads and didn't liked what it did.
The Pure Booster is described as a volume boost only, it's weird that it does anything else.
Larry, the team at Kemper have said many times in different threads that the Amp Volume, Rig Volume and Pure Boost are all exactly the same thing - pure linear volume scaling. Therefore, the only time it should make any difference is if the volume change happens at a point in the signal path that interacts with something else that is volume dependent. For example you will get a different result if the volume change happens before or after a compressor or an overdrive. Other than that I would put any perceived difference down to placebo effect.

Indeed, but that wouldn’t matter in Larry’s scenario as all 3 volume options would still be in front of the analog inputs of the interface so the effect on the interface would be the same regardless of Amp Volume, Rig Volume or Pure Boost.

Well, whatever is does or is not doing is working for me! And it works even better if I use a physical pedal on the main outputs into the interface.
