So as it has been proven that Mk2 Profiles incl. Resonance and Q work on the Mk 1 - why is there no possibility for a paid update a la Player for Mk1 users? I bought my Stage just a bit more than a year ago and it doesn't give me a great feeling to be honest, to know I'll not get the goodies.
I know I know ... I knew what I bought back then.
Still, it doesn't feel right having to shell out 1500€ again, just for an update that would also work on my current Stage. I feel a bit betrayed, and that's not where I am motivated to spend my hard earned. Isn't Kemper risking greatly to seriously harm their reputation by this strategy?

Ultimately, I think the difference in price between selling a Mk1 and upgrading to a Mk2 is in the ballpark of what a paid upgrade would run based on the cost of player upgrades and would include the fixed effects and some marginal improvement on 2.0 profiles. I would personally rather pay the extra 100€ or so for the full thing vs paying for one standalone feature and holding on to a depreciating asset vs the flagship that will retain value.
I also don’t know that Kemper is willing to take the PR hit of rolling out another paid software upgrade after the content put out when they released player upgrades

Have you checked the second hand market? In German Kleinanzeigen there are Kemper stages and toasters sitting for months not moving, some as low as 500€. So Inwait forever to sell my 1yo Stage for 500 and get a Mk2 for 1549 doesn’t sound like a reasonable effort to me.
I’ve been reading this thread off and on between actually playing guitar and I just can’t believe how entitled people are acting. As a hardware product developer myself I can guarantee that Kemper have done everything they can to take care of their customers. The Mk1has been around for what? 14yrs? Get some perspective.
Even if some features seem to work on the surface of things there are often other issues and corner cases where things can go wrong. Kemper have already explained why some features are not available on the MK1. Kemper is a product being used by professional artists and there is zero leeway for something to go wrong in that context.
This feels similar to the paid upgrade hissy-fit everyone had.
When creating new products and trying to reach a wider audience the motive is almost never a ”cash grab” or nefarious. It’s quite the opposite. The starting point is ”how can we make something cheaper and more accessible for more people?” It’s like this in every industry; cars, cameras, phones, whatever. This is why you release a cheaper option and let people add features as their needs and wallets allow.
I’m actually incredibly impressed with how Kemper takes care of their customers, 14 years of free updates! A player at almost half the price with the same features!
How are you guys imagining that Kemper will keep the lights on and keep innovating if they just release one product 14 years ago and then just update it perpetually for free?
Sorry for the rant but I’d suggest just enjoying the Kemper you have and playing guitar!
Cheers

While all of this is true, I bought my Kemper 14 months ago, not years. Imagine how that feels for a second. Many Software Companies have an upgrde scheme with pricing depending on date of purchase. Here it’s in or out.
That said I do enjoy the sound of Mk2 profiles even on my Mk1.

This isn’t quite correct. 2.0 profiles actually play back at a lower quality, and the resonance/Q parameter in 13.0.5 is an earlier prototype that’s missing some crucial functionality. This has already been explained thoroughly earlier in the thread.

There’s always a cutoff point with changes like this, and unfortunately buying at the “wrong” moment is something that eventually happens to everyone. I’m really sorry that it happened to you this time. I know that’s frustrating and nobody enjoys that situation.
At the same time, we’re constantly working to improve the product and keep it as good as we can for everyone. Because of that, we sometimes have to make decisions that move things forward, even though we know the timing won’t feel ideal for everyone. I hope you can understand that our intention is simply to keep making the product better.

So, there it is, your free upgrade to something that didn't exist 14 month ago when you purchased your Profiler.

So, you bought the older version on sale and...
Isn't it that you want to use a new version?
There are actually people who think this way.![]()

I paid exactly 1469€. Is that on sale price?
I'm a 10 year user and I had to come out of silence to say the new resonance feature in the 2.0 cab settings is just great... love it. Thanks Kemper... You copped some criticism over the wait with the OS14 beta release but I can see 2.0 driving all my future live sound. It's fat......

the same here… love the resonance feature!!

Yep, I paid 1630€ for mine in 2022
Can we get any confirmed official information about the V2 IR / Cab Block changes, if any ?
=> I am doing a MK2 Player V2 DI Profile and I then add a high quality IR in the Cab Block
=> is the added IR processed and played-back at a higher quality and resolution in MK2 V2 compared to MK1 V1 ?
=> what if anything has changed in this regard ?
Thx,
Ben
the resonance issue reminds me of when I bought my 2017 Toyota Van new. I wanted teh daytime running lights for safety, but you had to go the top trim level to get that. So I bought the mid-level trim, and after getting it home and reading some internet forums on the van, discovered all the vans had daytime running lights installed ... you just had to put a "dummy" fuse in the correct slot to turn them on. Got a dummy fuse for $0.50 and, voila, I had daytime running lights.
I expect the marketing and tech staffs at Kemper are looking hard at the next 12-24 months to figure out what upgrades the MK2 will be getting (just like all the upgrades the MK1's got over the years), and looking at what they may do for MK1 to give a little something to the large installed based of longer term users.

Kemper has stated that this is not the same as the Resonance and Intensity parameters in the MK2 units and has also said that you can achieve a similar result using an EQ after the cab block. They even provided which EQ and a setting range to use.
Yea I have a mkI toaster and a Player ( MkII) I tried them side by side with same 2.0 profile and the resonance is not the same. It has a similar fundamental effect but range isn’t same and likely the quality of it is less. Also the dynamic effect on the sound/feel is none existent on the Toaster mkI.
It’s unfortunate for Kemper the code wasn’t cleaned up so the old control wouldn’t pop up in Rig Manager because people will see and hear what they want at the expense of logic sometimes
I've been experimenting with 2.0. So far I am really impressed.
This was made for humbuckers, but you can turn down the bright cap or presence.

I bought a Stage about two months before Mk2 was announced to go with the Head I already owned..
Am I happy about the timing? Nope.
Do I blame them? Not in the slightest.
I think it’s asking a lot for a company to make people whole when iterations of hardware were 15 years apart.
The Player upgrades are entirely different. The capabilities were in the firmware from day one. It was planned that way.
They didn’t even figure out the Mk2 process until recently.
I believe the frustration is that MK1 owners are being told they must buy new hardware to get new benefits and were told it’s ‘technically not possible’ when it appears as though it is technically possible and being blocked by software. You don’t have any issue with that?
“If” this is the case, what a flat out lie, they really should say something before it gets to far down the road.
