Fractal now in Digital Software format

  • I'm trying out their 7-day trial. Download is free (no credit card required) but you do need a stupid iLok account. Available as plugin and standalone.

I'm curious who else is interested and to hear their comments about the software.

  • I’m curious, but I’m also curious about the thread title. Digital software as oppose to what, analog software? 8o:D

Well technically there is now "digital" and "a.i" software which will probably be known as "dumb" and "dangerous" software. Don't blame me if your 2050 Mk 99 Kemper takes over the world. :)

I should mention that the trail is limited to Fender amps.

  • Well, I'm not on the market for a new plugin. What surprised me by this Announcement was the price positioning. 300$ for 30-ish amps and a limited choice of effects Vs. 700$ (I know, here in EU is about 1000) for the AM4 with all (300+) the amps and the FXs, including the Hardware that is also an Interface. Making the proportion you should shell out 3000$ to have all the amps as plugin....

I struggle to understand the strategy of such a market positioning....

  • Yep, 10 days ago or so, First I was a bit surprised they came out with a Plugin.. then it was more like Ok who cares? But still a bit disappointed if I was a Fractal User...anyway

Honestly I'm aready good with Genome, did some presets that work for me and That's all .., in case I'm really lazy, and don't really want to turn The chicken knob.

  • No thanks. I broke up with vst ampsims when I bought the kemper and will never ever buy a vst ampsim in this life or in any future incarnation. I however did test line 6 vst when it was released just for fun as they claimed it sounded exactly like their hardware versions. I can't say I was impressed and Line 6 price tag was very steep too.

  • Well save your money and get a NAM for free ! I've also downloaded quality VST FX rack in a single free vst , it's really good with outboard gear also : mixbox by IK multimedia. These two ones basically make a super VST full solution .

There's a module in Genome called CODEX that read NAM files, I've tested times ago and it's Good!

I love that they finally do this. Personally i think none of the manufacturers closed the gap completely from studio to live use except bias. Line6 is the closest but they still miss a helix amp with poweramp, kemper has everything now except vst plugins. I love a complete integration in my workflows and i really hate reamping :D so if Kemper would make VST player plugin that would be amazing. Even Neural DSP had vst and now have hard ware but they do not bring their plugins to the hardware :D it is just silly. I really want to bring the final tone from my production to the stage. Everybody would benefit, i would have less work, the foh guy would have a tone that fits out of the gate well, the audience benefits ... that is why i would love some typical prostproduction effects inside the kemper. The best thing i can do in the moment is recording with helix native and then profiling the tone of the final mix.

  • I found it quite limited in amp options for the $299 USD price tag.

They will probably release more amp versions and each one will cost the same amount. In the end, if you want the whole collection, it will be much more expensive than simply buying an AM4. The plugin should cost $99 USD at most.

Genome, on the other hand, besides having great amps and cabs, has full integration with NAM and ends up being the best NAM player on the market right now
