Ability to assign pedal functions per Rig

  • The Profiler Model referred to in this thread is ...
    ☑️ Profiler Head/Rack

I currently have 3 expression pedals in my set up, set as Volume, Wah and Pitch.

However, I rarely use pitch or volume, only for certain rigs and songs. I'd love to be able to override the global settings so that I can cut down the number of pedals I need.

It would also be good to have the option to have pedal morph or switch morph per rig as the majority of the time I use switch Morph but occasionally I'd perhaps like pedal morph.

  • I know it isn’t the actual solution you are seeking Guy but I also have 3 pedals and pretty much can achieve what you are looking for with them.

My pedals are set as Wah/Pitch, Morph and Volume. I rarely use footswitch morphing but that still works in this configuration.

If pitch and wah are going to be on separate pedals then (unless someone is an acrobat or olympic gymnast) they aren’t going to be used at the same time. Therefore, if a rig has both Wah and Pitch effects loaded only the effect which is actually active is affected by the Wah/Pitch pedal. Assigning a footswitch to toggle between which one is active allows a single rig to control both from the same pedal. Alternatively, using two separate rigs (basically what you are proposing) one with a Wah active and another with Pitch active effectively create a pedal assignment per rig without adding a new pedal option.

Yeah I had a play with this. I think the issue I had was I had both effects active to avoid tap dancing, especially with Wah as I use touch wah...BUT of course I could have Wah active and Pitch not active and use one switch to toggle.

The only issue is I have a cry baby modded which I don;t think would be good for pitch.

I'd prefer to toggle between volume and Pitch which I'm not sure if possible?

  • We don't intend to bake user preferences like pedal assignments, input and output routings into Rigs, since it comprimzes their sharability. Imagine you double click on a Rig in Rig Exchange or any Rig pack and your pedals, inputs and outputs are screwed with preferences not matching your physical setup.

That makes sense, is there no way it could be done outside of that...so assigned to a rig but not part of the rig itself?

Conversely I think it could be solved for me if the volume pedal function was switchable so I could have it activated as volume but then I could "switch" that function to pitch like you can with Pitch and Wah. Does that make sense although I appreciate it would mean treating volume in a different way ( I think :) ).

  • You can use a Wah Pedal to control volume and pedal pitch effects by activating WahPedal to Volume and WahPedsal to Pitch. Those are global settings.

Then if you activate a Wah effect in a RIg, the pedfal controls the wah. If you activate a pedal pitch effect, the pedaa controls the pitch. And if there are no active wah and pedal pitch effects, the pedal controls volume. So you organize and switch the wah and pedal pitch effects to achieve what you want.
