Kemper Player + Kemper controller idea

  • I just bought a Kemper Player, which I upgraded to Level II+III. I have a Kemper Stage MK1, and I want to start exploring the MK2 environment with the Player, in addition to eventually making my rig lighter when needed.
Well, the Player is WONDERFUL; it sounds exactly like the Stage in a super-small unit. But my question is this: I know the Kemper Head (I had one before) can connect to the Kemper Controller through a router if it uses PoE power. This way, you can use Rig Manager with an iPad or Android on an old Head without Wi-Fi. Now, let's imagine connecting the Kemper Player in home network mode, connecting it to a router via Wi-Fi, and connecting a Kemper Controller to that router via Ethernet with a PoE device to power it. In theory, you could use the controller with the Player, and if not currently possible, it would be feasible with a small software update.

Someone with Player+Controller can test this?

  • The Player IS a controller. Is it not? If you want a larger foot controller then why not just buy the Stage? Or am I understanding your request wrong?

The reason I make this comment is because many are asking for more functions for the Player so it's just like the Stage or Head. So, just buy the Stage or Head in the first place.

Larry Mar @ Lonegun Studios. Neither one famous yet.

I just do my research. I like to get the most out of all my gear and look for new features. That's how I managed to use my old Kemper Head + Kemper controller with my iPad and Rig Manager via Wi-Fi (which wasn't available on my unit). According to your theory, I should have just bought a Kemper Stage (which does have Wi-Fi) to do that, but with my research on powering the pedalboard via PoE, I was able to do it with the gear I had at the time.
Obviously, I know that buying a Kemper Stage MKII will have me covered, but I already have a previous-generation Stage in addition to my new Kemper Player. I don't want to buy a second Stage. First, I'm trying to figure out how to use the Player for my live performance needs: I can use a standard MIDI controller—which I already have—(it would work, but I'd prefer to use the Kemper controller because of its integration and display), and I could also program the MIDI commands and launch them with a DAW. I'm just doing my research and considering options.

  • I would personally like Kemper to release an upgraded foot controller with LED light rings, and a nice color LCD (and all the cool features that could enable). Perhaps that product could be WiFi enabled so it could connect to the Player as well?

Anyway .... we can always dream.

The Guy Clearly Said he has the Stage Geeeeeeez !! some kemper users Smh

  • I would also prefer to get a player and use my 1yo Stage to control it, than try to sell my Mk1 stage (almost impossible) snd get a Mk2.

Would be super cool if that were possible with just a USB or even through WLan

Looks like they are going on ebay for around $750-850 ish (used) based on sold items in the last 2 months.

  • If you already owned a remote, and it could be done, this could be a reasonable solution, but you’d be looking at shelling out 450 or whatever a remote goes for these days, and whatever that Ethernet thing you would need to connect them.
At that cost you’d be better off selling your mk1 stage and the 450+ you’re considering spending on a remote would cover most of a new mk2 stage which is superior to any combination of the player plus something else needed. And then you’d have the player and the new stage. Use the player when you need ultimate portability and the stage when you need more options.
Or sell both the player and mk1 stage and you’d have enough to buy the mk2 stage straight up.

  • I've come up with an easier solution, and possibly better than trying to use a Kemper controller: use the Kemper Stage as a "fake controller", connecting both via midi/bluetooth, and trying to assign each relevant parameter of the profile that I want to switch on the player to a physical button on the Stage, and even that both units have the same profiles, so that I am controlling the Stage, but the Player can actually be heard, and also, with this method, I would have a backup in case the player eventually fails: I would have an adapted copy of my sound (slightly limited by the MK1-2 differences) on the Stage, and after just changing the connection cables, I could finish the show.

  • Just get the correct Arduino and a 5 inch touch screen. I am printing the name and effect chain of the loaded rig and the names of the 5 rigs in that bank. Furthermore it can manage the output cut and EQ, print the effects assigned to the FX I-IIII and has a "looper mode".

I'll soon write a thread about the project

    respect to this !

  • Hi Guys, I created a thread to share the details of the project ^^
