Seeking one-unit pedal with Looper & Drum Sampler for solo live use

  • At home, I use a software version of the CR-78, but I can’t realistically use a hardware CR-78 live.. It is way too bulky, expensive, and it lacks footswitch control. But I wish it was a way for me to bring what I hear here at home, with my CR-78 plugin, to a venue!

I’m looking for a multifunction pedal that can do this:

    • A looper (multi-slot, overdubbing, decent recording time)
    • A drum sampler or drum machine with assignable patterns (e.g., intro, verse, chorus, bridge, outro, etc.)
    • The ability to import or load my own drum samples (I really prefer this, because then I can make the beats at home!!)
    • Footswitch/button control for pattern selection and loop control
    • A record function so I can lay down guitar comping over the repeating drum loop live

Is such a single unit possible? Any existing pedals or combos you’d recommend?

  • Look at:

    Boss RC-10R

    DigiTech Trio+ (no import though)

    Mooer Groove Loop X2

It looks extremely promising. But it doesn't look like one can add own samples or swing the beat to get them more lively? I checked the documentation manual for the product and couldn't find anything relating swung rhythm

Well, that feature wasn’t something you originally asked for . We also be difficult.

  • If an iPad based solution works for you, Loopy Pro plus Lumbeat (or other drum plugin) is just one USB cable to your Kemper. Add a Bluetooth Midi footswitch like an Mvave Chocolate and you have a very flexible setup.

A large format, two pedal solution is Aeros and Beat Buddy (not the mini if you want to add your own beats).

  • If you can live with two pedals, I mad very good experience with Digitech SDRUM in combination with Digitech Jamman Solo XT
They syncronize with a 3.5mm jack cable and you have a lot of options. You can even connect and sync many more loopers if you need other instruments.
