The Look in Your Eyes

  • I dedicate this one to Kemper and all the Forum Members who have helped me on this journey! I pick up on every tip you make in the comments even though I may not comment. I also play through all your posted music because it is very inspiring. Your critiques are equally inspiring and noted. I almost consider this Forum as my Music Class. I'm at 5.5 years learning guitar and all other kinds of instruments and stuff.

I'm getting more fluid with drums and learning how they can slow down and push a song even when staying at the same bpm. Still need to work on my splashes and get the snare sound I have been after.

The high-gain Rhythm tone was done by using my Friedman BE-OD red channel preamped into Flanger and Phaser with a JTM45 bright channel profile with my guitar tone knob rolled all the way down. This tone came out perfect for me.

The high-gain lead tone was a Flanger and Phaser into a Mesa IIC+ profile and a tad bit of chorus after just to give it some fill. Practicing a lot on my squealie technique.

Bass tone was the Ampeg SVT with the midrange 3kHz boost and bass ultra+ switches.

Enjoy the eye candy! Thank you all!

  • Well done Larry!

Just my opinion but I would have probably kept the drum a lil far away.

I like the song, I like how it sounds, I just don't like those 2 bendings "come on push a lil more" at 2.20 or so.

The dancing Girls are .. a smart move. They kept my attention.

    Cheers man!

  • Well done Larry, very cool to have animated clips with your music, I'm in the process of making a few clips myself, it adds a lot but also get the attention away from the music, but still very cool.

I dig the MarkIIC+ lead tone , I prefer non FXd rhythm tracks myself , because it masks too much the original amp tone, but I know it's one of your signature.

Anyway you made great progress in the last year , and I really enjoy listening your work as with most of users using their creativity skills here.

  • Nicely done BayouTexan

Try scooping out some of the mids on the snare and kick just a little. Here's a little tip for working out where frequencies are going especially when your ears are tired after a long day of it - just turn your monitoring down really low and listen. If your mix sounds good super quiet, if you can hear everything you're meant to, then that's usually a sign that it's good at loud too. It also sometimes helps accentuate the energy in the frequencies, making it clearer where it's going, e.g. here the snap of the snare fades out at very low volumes on this mix leaving just the wooly mids and bass. Turn it up and everythgin is there, but in this case try pulling that back and seeing how it all sits together.

  • Hey Larry!

The intro guitar in this tune in the "Secret Agent" TV-show from the 60s category.

I enjoyed the tune as it (like most other tunes here) was exhibiting a lot of stuff I would never think of doing so it gives me ideas.

    Cheers,

    Mats N
