What do OG Kemper users get from the Mk2 upgrade?

  • The Profiler Model referred to in this thread is ...
    ☑️ Profiler Head/Rack

    Hi all,

The official announcement says that OG Kemper users get the following:

    16 Sync Effect Modules

    New signal flow extensions

Timbre emulation will be added soon

However, the summary then goes on to add information about loop recording and 8 channel USB. Do OG users get that too? or just the items in the list above?

    Thanks!

Where did you see that? I thought it only said that the player would get those? As the player is already considered part of that new series. I didn’t hear that OG Kemper stage or head/rack users would get the extra effect blocks. That would be cool. That’s the feature that excites me the most. I’m still gonna get the new stage as soon as I have the funds to do so but, it would be nice to begin setting up rigs with that new structure until I do.

My understanding is, that the Kemper announcement is unclear. I think it means, that the Player will also work with the new adhanced profiles and their availability is announced for the summer.

If I´m wrong, please correct me.

Yes, I think that might be what they meant. But that’s not what they’ve written, so I’d like to hold them to what they publish. :)

  • I'm not sure what's unclear.

"A New Era of Effects: 20 Blocks in series, the most powerful effects architecture ever found in a KEMPER unit - The PROFILER MK 2 Series now offers seven additional effect blocks, raising the total number of simultaneous audio effect blocks to an incredible 20 — all running with zero added signal latency. It's like having an entire, fully integrated pedalboard with pedal essentials at your feet — but one that boots in seconds, never needs rewiring, and always remembers your settings."

"The PROFILER MK 2 Series now offers"

The old Kemper ≠ The Profiler MK 2 Series. Can you link this announcement you have read?

If you’re talking about what I wrote about the Player, that’s right there on the Kemper website, in their MkII announcement.

Oh nah, I just meant it says in clear writing that the new features come with the MK 2. But I found the supposed announcement he was referring to in another thread. I'm not sure where it comes from, it does explicitly state what features will also extend to the original Kemper. I'm not sure if it's fake or what.

  • I see a flood of original Profilers on Reverb in the next couple of months. That means really nice price drops and maybe time to get a backup Profiler that cost the same as a Player.

Larry Mar @ Lonegun Studios. Neither one famous yet.

Yep. As an OG Rack owner/user, I guess I don’t get access to the new advanced profiles. Which would be bothersome except that I anticipate the same glacial release pace as we’ve seen for Liquid Profiles, so it will likely be some time before I feel left out. :)

  • It says it very clearly here that OG users will get some upgrades.

Given the new tech is already in the hands of third-party profile creators…..I think they’re waiting to have a selection available.

Whatever they unlocked/discovered with Liquid Profiles - this is clearly an extension.

I also think we now know why no new LP tone stacks have been released. Sounds like it’s baked into the Profiling now.

Someone took the original announcement and leaked it, and then added a bunch of fake info. This is some degenerate shit. But here's a final confirmation from Kemper that OG users will not get these new features.

    Thanks for the clarification.

I know it isn’t currently a priority but is there any possibility that the new DSP could be retrofitted to MK1 units? I know Kemper may not be interested in offering this service in house for devices still under warranty. However, it may be an attractive option for users with units which are out of warranty where the user has electronics experience to do it themselves or has a good local tech that could do the work cost effectively.

Is this something that you would consider offering at some point or a hard no?

  • It only makes sense to offer a paid upgrade path for older models. Maybe via the daughter board. It doesn't make economic sense to buy a MK 2 for what it offers over the OG but a upgrade card would help keep customers in the upgrade loop.

This assumes the new architecture is similar enough to the old. I’d bet it isn’t.

As for ‘not enough to upgrade’ - meh, we’ll see.

I was more than happy with what my Profiler offered before the announcement. Just because there’s a new model doesn’t really change that.

Lots of FOMO (fear of missing out) going on.
