Is there a reason why all the switch lights are on?

    Hello everyone!

I love my Kemper Player, but there's something a bit annoying about it: LEDS. I mean, why are all the lights on on the switches? Would it be possible to turn off the lights of the switches you are not using?

ALSO, would it be possible to change the color or switch off the LED of the morphing? When you have morphing, both lights are on now, and I can see that the morphing one is dimed, but they all look almost the same, so it's difficult to know if you are on the original preset or the morphed one.

    Anyone else experiencing this?

  • Hi Behind,

This has been pointed out and discussed from many users. For what I understand until now, the concept is that Kemper want to share same logic used on the other bigger devices. Every function has a certain colour, so the green led on the footswitch means that it is assigned to a rig selection.

An improvement could be to set the led of the non-loaded footswitch as a dimmed. I this way "the lighted one" (also during morphed) should be "more visible".

That logic is a bit strange...

What's more important, to show that a switch is a rig or to show which switch you have enabled?

It's a pedal. You have to be able to see it for less than a second and figure out everything instantly, and that's not happening right now. Specially with the morphing light. They are both ON and with a very similar brightness!

I think this matter needs some serious thinking because it's simply not right as it is now.

  • As Ale mentioned, the LEDs are green when selecting rigs.

The issue I see is that, in "Select RIG" mode, all three LEDs on the switches stay lit, as shown in the image above.

A genuine question: if we're in "Select RIG" mode, is there a specific reason why all of them need to be illuminated?

When I'm playing and glance at the Player to switch rigs, I want one LED to clearly stand out, not all three competing for attention. The same goes for the morphing LED, ideally, a quick look should be enough to tell where you are.

Right now, it's more about guessing which LED is slightly brighter, which isn't ideal during a performance.

  • The Player is terrible for sensory-overload on stage. Too many lights, too many colours.

I have the three switches assigned to rigs, and actually put tape over the left light on each switch, as well as the input light and the always-on tuner. I have each rig setup for a morph (even if it doesn't actually do anything useful when it morphs) so there's a single green light on the right but only on whichever switch/rig is active.

I thought about buying one of the perspex covers and using it to tape up or blank out all the other lights too, e.g. the gain knob, the patch buttons, the blinky tap-tempo light etc... just don't need any of those distracting me on stage.

  • In general to understand which rig is selected I orientate myself with the softbuttons. However since the three-led method for the 625 banks of level 3 has been inserted sonetimes I am wrong because I always think the first one is selected. I also think that looks a bit a christmas three sometimes 😂
