Hi, anybody got a good Allan holdsworth or Tim Miller kind of sound.
I like this kind of sound for smooth legato playing.
Anyone good a making a setting for this ???

From what I remember, that kind of sound is a combination of volume and enough gain for the notes to sustain and finger vibrato.
I saw Allan Holdsworth live once in ‘94, he was doing a kind of masterclass where he played with a band but also talked and took questions and demonstrated how he played. He was absolutely brilliant. I remember seeing him use one chord voicing where his first finger was on the second fret, fourth finger on the seventh fret 😲
I’ve always been in awe of his legato style. I think to be frank it was largely in his fingers and due to sheer technique.
His solo on “In the dead of night” by UK is, I think, the perfect example of good legato. And the note choices - awesome. Most of us would play tired sounding blues rock licks, but not AH. He could solo like a good jazz sax player.

I saw one of his Clinics in Lodon way back (might have been 94 or possibly earlier). He was unbelievable. Shook hands with him afterwards and I thought my hand disappeared into a black hole. Maybe I’m misremembering throught rose tinted glasses but they seemed like the hands of a giant. Now way for a mere human like me to even contemplate the chord voicings he was capable of.

Yes I think it’s true he had large hands.
Did you ever find anything? I asked about this recently and got zero response
