Has anyone tried the drop tuning function on a bass?

I've used it and it works very well provided you use headphones. Try -12 semi tones on the bass and get low, low, low.

Half step works fine.

It will keep you from hearing both the original tuning (string noise) and the drop tuned playback at the same time. Some players might not mind but I find it aggravating so headphones help block out the original string noise. Note that I do this in a studio setting -- not live.

Now, if you do this while gigging at ear blasting volumes then no headphones required but earplugs or a nice IEM system would be preferred.

I did it at two gigs.

The sound was ok. Because I use In-Ears everything worked fine. Without In-Ears I would not do it because of hearing the original strings and the droped down sound.

I find that if I use the pitch effect in slot “A” it works great. It does not seem to work so well when I transpose the Rig itself as I get a bit of artifacting.

Maybe your Bass doesn't like that drop tune of the Kemper and sends some artefacts therefor? 😉
