Activate delay only while holding a foot switch

  • The Profiler Model referred to in this thread is ...
    ☑️ Profiler Head/Rack

Like with a keyboard, I would like to add sustain/delay while holding a foot switch.

I have a keyboard sustain pedal, which is detected by the profiler, and as mono switch, I can toggle the delay effect (on button release). This is very close but not satisfactory (like if you use an amp channel switch)

The pedal is on normally, and off when pressed. Maybe a polarity selection would add value. In Referenzhandbuch 5.1, S. 72 a soft button is mentioned to toggle polarity, but I cannot find it.

The remote has all 4 expression pedals attached, I connect the switch to pedal 1 on the profiler (where it is detected).

    I am running profiler 10.2.1.48624

    Thanks considering this.

  • already possible with the remote. from the manual:

    Latched / Momentary

Every Effect Button supports an automatic latched / momentary detection: A quick press of the button will latch the

assigned function - in other words, the assigned effect modules will change their on/off state permanently, until you

    press the button again.

However, if you hold the Effect Button for a second or more, it will automatically change to momentary operation.

Momentary operation means that as soon as you release this Effect Button, it will immediately revert to the initial

state. This behavior applies to on/off switching as well as to “Action & Freeze” functions.

  • It would be cool if the profiler would support this with an external pedal button, and without a long push command, always momentary, just like in keyboard and piano usage. I want intuitive usage.

I cannot use the remote effect buttons for this continuously and often while playing, and want to connect a dedicated foot controller to the profiler directly.

    Thanks considering!

  • Let me again pledge for a new feature for the external sustain pedal!

Many musicians both play piano and guitar. Pianists are practiced in using the sustain pedal. If the profiler could resemble that behavior for the guitar, that would open new ways of playing, and transfer musical styles from piano to guitar without much hazzle for such musicians.

Work arounds with remote buttons feel totally different, and pedals might be modded with springs. That will not work for many people.

And I do not want to sacrifice my only morph controller for this, nor to change pedal behavior between rigs.

So please add a pedal destination "delay momentary" to the list in "Switch Tip" of the "mono switch" including a polarity selector (which seems to be missing anyway) in the System->Pedal 1.
