Any reason an electro-acoustic shouldn't work through a Kemper ?

    Hopefully a quick one...!

Bought a nice electro-acoustic guitar from Ebay. Plugged it into my Kemper Powerhead (running at home through a Focusrite into speakers) and nothing.

When I contacted seller he said "ah its a Kemper". Now I'm going to try to get access to a conventional amp later but is there anything related to Kemper that I'm missing?

I run it straight into the Kemper input exact same as electrics. I have tried all profiles I have, including an acoustic one. Only time I get any trace of an output is to absolutely crank the Kemper ahd use a high gain profile. Even then it's barely discernible. New battery in guitar as well.

    Any thoughts?

  • Hi I use various Electro acoustics into my Kemper with zero issues ..can you try yours with another amp or PA ..my thought is that the piezo system on yours may be faulty or there’s a wire loose or suchlike ..

Other thoughts have you got the correct input selected (ie front input ..) stupid but can happen

Try a different cable (again just to rule out ..)

The “aah it’s a Kemper” is just BS

  • Cheers everyone. Guitar has a volume knob, tuner etc so yes a preamp.

Mono tip cable used as per other guitars.

Looks like electrics knackered as tuner on the guitar won't engage unless you physically unplug the guitar lead. I have the manual for the electrics & that ain't right... You should be able to press tuner button, guitar should mute & then unmute when you turn tuner off.

Turns out the seller "last used it plugged in a few months ago". Meaning he didn't test it before he listed it...

If the guitar is battery powered, there could be an issue, if it feeds it's battery voltage to its guitar output. The PROFILER doesn't like that and might close its input. But this is either bad design or a defect of the guitar.

  • On my main acoustic electric I installed a second output jack and put a Fishman Rare Earth humbucker in the soundhole. That lets me take the "acoustic" sound to a preamp and the PA, while taking the "electric" output to the Kemper. It's a really flexible setup for an acoustic 2- piece.
