Funny that I should see this today since I was playing around with the parametric EQ in the Kemper to see if I could nail the Stryper sound. I was doing it for fun. I

yeah tough to nail that sound really ...
i used a mesa studio preamp through some impulses in the daw to get me close then used curve eq ,matched it to a spot in the rock that makes me roll where there is only guitar, then profiled the whole signal chain ..
the important part is yes the parametric eq before the distortion boosting 1khz and cutting bass.
I used to use that sound a lot many years ago. I got to speak to both Michael sweet and Oz Fox and they told me about what they were doing with the Furman PQ3 Parametric EQ. I decided to try to see if I could do that with the Kemper , so I added the studio parametric eq before a Mesa profile and I also added a clean boost after the EQ since the furman used to also boost the gain up by +20db. I had a ton of fun with it! Just a FYI, they used to switch between 1k and 800hz, You can hear the difference in mids on some of their albums. I got pretty close just using my ears. I might profile my boogie and use the same parametric EQ setting that I always use on the PQ3 Some people love that sound and others hate it. I just think it's a ton of fun to play through using that sound
Hey gainfreak , yes please profile your boogie if you can with the PQ3 I love that tone for leads, such a long sustaining lead tone, midrangey but still great for solos
