I had a special day today. Was all alone (no wife and kids today) and cranked the Kabinet to 104db for a few hours of practice. I was getting so much dynamic finger response that it felt over-powering in a good way. Pick attack was so much fun. The difference in feel is like a Kabinet is shooting a shotgun and Studio Monitors is shooting a BB gun.
I hadn't turn on my power amp in many weeks and had been concentrating on making good recording profiles. After playing "amp in room" loud stuff for a while then going back to studio mode with monitors, I really felt disconnected. And I was already missing natural speaker feedback and string thump.
I have about 20 profiles that I made for studio mix. I had already redone 5 of them to save for Kabinet mode. I guess this is the way you do it to get best of both worlds.
I can definitely see a guitarist going into a studio for the first time that has an iso-booth for amp and going...
