Cheap power amp

I thought I’d share this with bedroom practicing people and house jammers.

I bought a Electro-Harmonix 5mm, power amp. It’s rated 2 .5 watts.

I’m driving a n open back 1. X 12 Celestion and am quite sure there’s more than enough power

to use with drums.

For $100. I’m really impressed.

That and the hotone loudster (and the harley benton one in europe) are the cheapest, smallest solution to your power amp needs. The 5mm is a nice little thing.

I had grounding issues / noise with the EHX Caliber 22. Exchange had the same problem. EHX from a friend had the same problem.

Don't know if it is the same with the 5MM

Bought the Hotone Loudster instead and use it since months without any problems - no (unwanted ) noise, good quality, very stable.

if you go for mono it is ok,

But think about one thing: a "class D" amp would be the best option in term of "cleaness" and linearity. So, cheap whatever it cost, class D is a must IMHO.

Great tip. I did not know about this one, but I recently added a pair of 44 Magnums to my rig to run my wet effects separately.

I'm so far very impressed with the clean power and form factor of these mini amps.

No noise, very quiet. I’ve been using now for a few days and it sounds great.

I also have a 44 magnum, but it’s too loud for office practice. I find the 44 to be a bit noisy too.
