Is there a way to prove which actual KPA created a given profile?
If not, how can it be possible to know if a commercial profile was actually created by the seller and not just a tweaked and re-packaged version of another one?

I believe the author is fixed and can't be changed. It's clearer if you open rig manager, you won't be able to change the author. The only way I believe to get around that is to have two Profilers and profile the Profile . I hope some of the sellers aren't just doing that with other commercial profiles with some EQ tricks to end up with a different profile.
Yeah - I think the commercial sellers should always include photos and/or video of the profiling sessions in order to flush out this behavior and protect their investment.

@Finally please post topics concerning commercial profiles only in the provided commercial subforums
I remember there was a guy 1-2 years ago who tweaded free profiles and sold them. He claimed he didn't know it was not allowed to do that.
