Reamp losing hi end content

I run my kemper unbalanced outputs into a behringer ada8200 and then adat into my interface.

I tried sending the di signal from interface to ada8200 to kemper balanced return. Got it working, but the guitar tone is losing some hi end content. Won't match the original recorded version that the di came from.

Thought it might be the ada8200 return so I bypassed that unit and just sent a balanced signal from interface straight to kemper return. Still missing the same hi end content.

Now thinking it might be the initial pass thru the ada8200. Doesn't seem to affect the gtr tones from stack output, but something is messing up the di signal.

Any chance of reamping via spdif? This way there is no signal loss. The Kempers analog outs have slightly less treble compared to the digital out, and the Behringer has very dark sounding preamps too iirc.

My motu 16a doesn't have spdf.
I may have to run the di direct to my interface analog in.
Hoping to avoid that.

It looks like the Motu has an optical digital input (adat). I'm not sure but maybe this could work?

This is the only box I could find that does s/pdif to adat optical, but it's pretty expensive. Would be cheaper to just get an USB interface with s/pdif inputs.
