The hold function is a "dynamic" feature, my way of saying, it will hold whatever it heard last, which means you have to turn it on and off while using it. You can control it from a foot switch on the remote I believe. But try this first, go into edit mode on the delay slot, tab over to the edit screen with the hold soft button. Make sure it is "off", strum your guitar, you should hear the delay, then press the hold soft button to turn the effect on, it should capture and continue to repeat whatever it was "hearing" when you push the button. Let us know if it doesn't work. Ideally you would toggle the hold function on and off with a footswitch I think...

I totally get you, Telekemper. Here's my idea:
If you've got the floorboard, programme the delay you'd like to use when soloing over the hold function, which you place in a different slot, to come on at the same time the hold function is switched on. You'll still have to use a separate footswitch of some type to trigger the hold function, I think, and obviously if you don't have the floorboard you'll have to use 3rd-party switches (toggle on / off ones would be best IMHO) to switch both the soloing delay as well as the hold function on and off at the same time.
I haven't thought this through thoroughly, but you get the idea; the good news is that I don't see why this wouldn't be possible.

Thanks, I have the remote, my idea is to have 2 delays the same time, one just for the hold function and one for solo, think bill frisell

You can use more than one delay in the current version of the operating system. Simply activate a second one when you set the other one to hold.
-
I worked around this by using the Legacy delay as the "solo delay". This delay does not feature the hold function, so is not affected by engaging hold for the other delay.
-
The thing is, using the hold function freezes the delay and it's not available any longer as long as hold is not released.
Use another delay in another slot instead like it was recommended. -
Like Ingolf and hjscheffler said, you can probably use a second delay in another stomp/x slot. Simply assign the hold function and the second delay to the same switch on the remote (delay2 off when hold active, and vice-versa). Should work in theory (can't test right now).
-
I have tested, works great, pretty awesome, next up, more tips on how to manipulate the delays with the remote?
-
Telekemper84, you can use morphing. This won't allow you to control parameters independently though. All parameters with one expression pedal.
-
you can use morphing
I think with morphing the hold function can not be controlled (cannot test it the moment)

I think @lk_bill 's answer was more directed to the question what else you can do to manipulate delay.

That's correct Ingolf.

Some buffoon may have beaten them both to it IIRC.

hehe... Apologies MonkeyMan, I did miss your earlier suggestion.

Is it possible to use the looper button on the kemper remote to perform the delay hold function.
-
I don't have the Kemper remote but I can't find a way to program the HOLD button onto a footswitch of any kind.
Feel like this can't be right, HOLD button needs to be actively flipped on and off --surely there is a way?
-
Can anyone point to how to set this up with the remote? I would like to use the looper button as the hold function if thats possible. I dont use the built in looper and currently disabled it so I dont accidentally turn it on during shows.
-
Can you set it up like this linked video? Delay setup with a hold; once activated, a delay in slot before is can be activated to solo over the hold.
