1964 Fender Bassman Blackface

Hey guys,

I have been profiling this old amp I inherited from my father. This particular one is the AA864 model. Cool amp. I uploaded only one profile to the RE at the moment, but I have made a few at varying gain levels.

I tried to document the settings in the profile's tags. Feel free to comment (positive/negative), as I would like to improve my profiling skills! Any input will be appreciated

Here is some noodling I have recorded using this profile. Look for Fender Bassman Blackface on the RE.

Wow ! this thing sounds amazing w my Tele. Even w the extra E.Q and overdrtive turned off
it has a very warm woody sound w nice natural crunch.
Did you plug straight into the amp ? or use pedals ?
Is the amp modded ?

Hey @old crow, thanks for your input, I appreciate it!

The only mods the amp has had are caps and tubes swap - other than that it is stock! No pedals - I plugged straight into the amp, using the "Bass Instrument" channel rather than the "Normal" channel for this profile, volume and treble cranked to 10, and bass to 0!! Pretty unusual setup, but it gives you some nice crunchy tones. I added the EQ and Green Scream to be able to bump it into hard rock territory and be able to solo with it.

Sounds pretty good with a Tele here also!

that's the secret setting...have a listen to J.D. Simo interview, on Trutone, where he talks about
how to set the controls on old Marshall's, which is ( as you know ) what your b.m. circuit is
designed after....
I'll be trying my p 90 gits tonite.

I've been looking for more profiles like this. Love that Ole Rock n' Roll and that Slapback Sun Studios tone. I wish someone could get a profile of that wonderful 63 Bassman, but I think Brian Setzer bought all those amps up.

That is a very nice profile! With my hb it sound a bit dark, but with different cabs it is great!
For me, its in the same league as the famous morgan 20 profile...
