One of my favourite bands, the Blue Aeroplanes from Bristol, have a new single out called Elvis festival. Album will come in January.
I'm even flying to London to see them there then.

I really dig this 90's band too, I'm now investing in a fuzz pedal after hearing this kind kind of raw tones , I really dig the drums too, while the singer is really monotonous in it's style, but it fits the band quite well.
Brilliant pop construction IMHO, and the video is the song is the video.
Not strictly within Kulle's rules, but different enough in order not to be considered "main", mainstream.

I'm a big friend from the sound of the oud.
The oud ist the mother of the guitar. It came from Mesopotamia over Arabia to Al Andalus - nowadays Spain.
So we can hear the music-culturell contact between Europe and Arabia. The flamenco is the bridge.

I always return to Jan Johansson. He's most known in Sweden for his recordings where he merged jazz and swedish/russian/hungarian folksongs. He tragically died in a car crash in -68.
Fun fact: He's the father of Anders and Jens Johansson who played drums/keyboards with among others Yngwie Malmsteen.

Maybe you will like this also..cant stop hearing this stuff..first one is "villagers of ioannina city"..these guys combine folk music of epirus/western greece with modern stoner rock,keeping the typical 9/8 & 7/8 beats (like in the song in the vid) and the typical scales (variations o the dorian mode) and also the clarinet as lead instrument:

Second one is from a guy (Thanasis Papakponstantinou) who has become in the meanwhile "mainstream" in greece.He mixes traditional folk music with modern elements.In this song/video "things get wild" at the end.
