[SOLVED] I can't see text input while quoting and posting from iPhone or iPad

  • If I try to quote someone and post from my iPhone or iPad I can't see my text input except I switch to "Source" mode. It happens using Safari but also using Chrome. The cursor moves but there is no text. Would be cool to have this fixed since I'd love to participate mobile, too.

This only happens if I try to quote someone.

  • This is a real problem and I wish Kemper would fix it. It has been an issue for too long in my opinion.

The only thing that sometimes works for me is to go to landscape mode, or to use the predictive text feature.

    It doesn't always work.

  • I think it's out of their control. One of the mods posted once that the forum software is a third-party package solution. They'd have to punk the software authors to do something about it and in my experience, you might as well shout at the wind...

I would look for another 3rd party solution, no joke.

2016 and your forum software doesn't work with iPhones? That's pretty much way behind the curve.

  • Not just iPhones but IPads also.

I even have an issue on my PC. Not as bad though but a bit annoying because this forum is the only place this happens.
If I set my cursor back to somewhere where I already typed to correct or add text, as
I type it will put my text at the end of the line.
If I reset my cursor back where I wanted it a second time, it works properly.

  • I'm really glad you guys start responding to my thread. It bugs me a lot and I think this forum would be used even more if we would be able to quickly replay mobile. This would mean a huge improvement. We could be so much more productive.

That's too bad. But I'm so glad you hear us @G String. Thank you for that!

Change to someone else that can make this work. You should not be satisfied with developers who can't make their software run on Ipads and Iphones. This is 2016. And ALL other boards i have ever been on do not have this problem, so seriously, the software solution you use is.....ahem......moderating my language here.....below par. Very.

And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make.

To be honest, to my mind he's absolutely right.

That's not against you, Kemper People, not at all! The forum developers should immediately fix this.
It's a little like the early nineties called and they wanted their buggy non-mobile software back. :D

As I said: absolutely no offense against the mothership!

    Cheers

  • Confirmed.
I use Atomic Web as a browser and, while the issues are less than described, I too have to face bad txt resizing, ghost lines... and selecting txt doesn't allow me to quote a selection.

In fact, when I access the forum through my iPad I often just read, even tho I'd be able to help.

Note: This happened on OS 7 and 9 as well.

  • we've learned that this all is caused by the text editor component they use (the text editor is the part where you type you message in). apparently there is an alternative but switching this part out will cause some work on our end so it might take a little bit of time.

Great to hear that there might eventually be a solution! Thanks for the info GString
