Kemper Duplicate Finder - free program to detect duplicate amp/cab profiles

Here's a free Windows program I made to find duplicate amp/cab profiles among groups of .kipr files. This looks at the actual profile data, not the tags. The tags can be somewhat easily changed. This should always find matches, even if someone dubiously changed the tags, or if the tags were blank/vague. It also ignores the amp/cab parameters, such as Definition, Clarity, High Shift, etc. which could be tweaked by the user. It's pretty simple to use. It's useful for a few purposes:

• for commercial profilers, you can make sure no one else is ripping you off.
• for those like me who make lots of tweaks and end up with tons of profiles, it can be handy to quickly find groups of profiles using the same amp or cab, especially if the profiles were tagged poorly
• it's interesting to run to find out if vendors are really making profiles for all the rigs they distribute or if they are just tweaking a few parameters, reusing the same amp/cab, etc.

It should be stable, but I have noticed it may hang if you try to compare a large number of files. If people find it helpful and interesting, maybe I'll try to spruce it up.

I do have an old mac mini running an old version of xcode. Im not doing anything too fancy here - should be a simple port. That said, i only have used xcode to do ios dev in the past. Im sure mac apps arent too difficult, but i cant make that a priority at this time. However if anyone wants to do so, im happy to offer assistance. The project is MIT license, so its about as open as you can get.

If it eventually becomes a high enough request, im happy to do it. But i have something much bigger to launch, hopefully in the next few months. Pm me for sneak peek

Oh, also, please let me know what enhancements i can make to this. It seems its already been helpful and proved its value, so id like to make it a bit more robust before doing a real release.

Right now im thinking a save results to text file feature. Maybe also a progress bar while doing matching.

Any hanging? Crashing? Do we need better error checking?

Also, id appreciate some thorough testing. I will post the test cases ive done later. But if you know of any cases where there were false positives or missed duplicates, thatd be greaaaaat

Ok so the count is the number of profiles (amp or cab, each is considered a different profile). 1 amp profile could be duplicated across 4 files, and 1 cab profile duplicated across the same or different files. Each color-coded group shares a profile.

Groups should all have distinct files because i should be skipping comparing the file to itself. There may be some flaw to my methodology that is somehow comparing files to themselves.

Or if say you have 4 completely duplicate rigs in one folder, but they have different file names, then im trying to remember if it will exclude reposting the same matched profile for each file, since theres already a group with that information.

There may be a better way to display the results. I was kind of thinking to show each file in the source folder as the first entry for each group, where the file has an amp/cab profile detected in a different file. Previously i was only showing each duplicated tag once, with all the files it occurs in.

Can you share a screen shot and explain whats in each file, or can you mail me the rigs?
