I hate how the fretboards are so dry on most guitars.
air moisture in moderate climates is usually enough for the fretboard to absorb as much as it needs.
over-saturationg a fretboard with oils (mostly to make them look nice) can have more negative effects than a dry fretboard.

Oh, had not tried acetone for plastic bindings. Nice tip. Learned something new...again. At this rate I'll be pretty smart one of these years.
Just be warned not all plastic melts with acetone. But it's so much cleaner to use than glue.

Ok... It's not a "guitar" right now. This will become a lefthand T-Style Deluxe. Wide Range Humbuckers and all the stuff that is not available for leftys usually. I'm really excited!

In the long run, frets may come loose or not stable if the wood next to them absorbs too much humidity. Or at least refretting may become difficult. It never happened to me but I oil the fretboards just a little only once a year or so.

It is clearly very much influenced by classic Alembic designs, down to the little gap at the end.
No sarcasm,just a bit of humor.
She is made of around 15 pieces of wood.

They start in the 70´s to build basses and guitars mostly by EKO.
There are rumors about productions in Matsumoku.
Especially about this copy.

Interesting discussion here around the combination of different woods in guitars other that the usual (and unbeatable) mahagony meets flamed maple top thingy. The guitar below is actually not my latest but rather my first electrical guitar and with me since 40 years now (japanese made El Maya strat copy). Got it as a kid when I started the whole thing. Great guitar but I was never super satisfied with the sound and thus converted it into a power strat in the late 80s, getting rid of the poor single coils in that one.
What I always wondered is if the wood combination is helpful for the sound, i.e. if the vibration and resonance of the strings in the body and neck is rather good or not so much. Heard many different opinions on that. The style of building guitars like that (similar to the Alembic instruments) is solely 70s in my impression, haven't seen this any more in the later years... anyway I have many nice memories with this guitar and it has been on stage with me quite often...
By the way Genesis' Mike Rutherford played exactly this one but with a different name and label on it in the late 70s. I just discovered that few years ago

For me its not important.
For my Camac she sounds good-looks good,best off
Whilst I've had her for a number of weeks now, this was her first outing...very happy!
